weird stuff

I noticed today that several threads have been posted to, but the message does not appear. Latest example:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum74/HTML/008291.html

It seems to appear later on, at least in the threads where I saw this before, but it is strange nonetheless.

Are you saying that when you post to a thread (such as the one above), the post doesn't appear?

We've noticed some corrupted threads this morning, but those shouldn't cause the display problem you mention (they just cause the forums to slow to a crawl).

Yes and no. It doesn't appear at first, but it becomes visible later. Like I said...weird stuff. Maybe there's just a delay between when someone posts and when it can actually be read.

In the example above, Private Pilot posted at 1:02 on December 15th, which moved it to the top of the postings for the day, but when I went to click on it, all I could see was ltlrdrkt's posting from 10:59 on December 14th. That is when I posed my question because I also experienced this on an earlier thread. Eventually both postings appeared, but there was definitely a lapse between the time the posting was made and it was visible by me.

Hmmm... there isn't a setting in the system that includes an automatic delay between when a post is made and when it displays.

I suppose an extremely slowed-down FlyerTalk might exhibit a delay between the post and when the HTML page it's on gets updated, but the time lapse would be seconds.

If it happens repeatedly, try clearing out your cache and shift-reloading to make sure you're getting the newest file from the server...

Sounds like the classic action of a thread about to go Bye Byes and corrupt. Saw a few of them earlier this year that started like this.

I just checked the cgi file on that thread (the part that gets corrupted when it fails) and it still looks fine...
