Missing page on limerick thread
Page 4 "cannot be found" on the following thread:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum71/HTML/014383.html Since this is an exciting limerick competition with 4 AA VIPOWs being given away as prizes, I am certainly anxious to read the new entries, as well as the announcement of the winners scheduled for Friday! [Edited to add:] Interestingly, the first page does not mention that this is a multi-page thread, the second and third pages note that the thread is 3 pages long, while the topic page shows it at 4 pages. There is no doubt in my mind that many posts have been made to this thread after the last post on page 3. I hope they are not lost http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif. ------------------ Vasant [This message has been edited by vasantn (edited 02-12-2003).] |
That one really is weird.
Last post on page ONE shows as Feb 12, 4.49pm, so sadly it seems the other three pages have simply vanished? And what a nice thread too. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif ------------------ ~ Glen ~ Come and visit the most ** FRIENDLY FORUM ** on FlyerTalk. Glen, I'm still able to access pages 2 and 3 from the main AA topic listing. Page 4 seems to have disappeared into the hereafter, unfortunately.

It is still not showing page 4 although it is allowing posts. I made a post this morning and noticed that there was another one after me. FT, any update? This is a really great thread, even without the ultimate prize!

Interesting ... so it seems the only way to view page 4 is to post a reply! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

My guess: Since all new posts are appearing on page 1, I think that the system has "forgotten" about pages 2 and 3. They're only accessible at the moment because the system is set to write out static HTML pages, rather than call the database every time somebody accesses the page.
Therefore, my guess is that when page 1 gets a bit longer, the system will overwrite the old page 2 (which for some reason it doesn't know exists), and eventually the old page 3 if the thread gets that long. That's why I copied the items from the old pages 2+3 into page 1. Odd behavior though. |
I ran a recount on the American forum, and rebuilt all the threads in it just now, but it didn't seem to bring back the missing middle pages to that thread.
