new posts not appearing in amtrak thread

the amtrak forum index shows:
Mega Miles on Amtrak??? Pages: 1 2 DLSIZE 52 08-13-2002 01:18 AM

but when I click the thread, the last post I see on page 2 is from dhammer53 on 08-05-2002 08:30 PM.

I've tried reload, shift-reload, clear cache, 3 different browsers on 2 different computers, and asked a friend to look at it as well. Can not get the missing posts to display.

Can you take a look at it?

Sure thing...

UPDATE: It looks like another thread has bitten the dust. We looked at the source file for this thread and it appears that it was incompletely re-written recently.

We'll probably go back to the old method of shutting the boards off when we rebuild threads and/or perform other file maintenance steps. If the boards are shut off (even for a short while, which is usually all it takes), then there's no chance of files being overwritten by the public as we're working on them at this end for maintenance purposes.

Start looking for announcements (in the normal, top of the page area) warning of site outages for upcoming maintenance periods. We'll try and limit them to a few times a month (for a couple hours each) so you won't be without for too long.

Sorry about all these dying threads...

Maybe you should lock that thread, as it appears that others have tried to post there as well.

It looks like that thread (page one at least) is still accepting posts; there's one from yesterday in there. I'm hesitant to lock it if it can still be used...

I can access the most recent posts in that thread from your link, but not if I try to access the thread from the Amtrak forum.

From the main thread page, if you click on either page 1 or the thread title "Mega Miles on Amtrak???", you get sent to the link above. But if you click on page 2 from the main thread page, you get sent to a limbo page.

I'll try rebuilding the Amtrack forum again to see if it'll clear up the two page problem. If not, I'll probably go ahead and just shut it off like you suggested, to avoid further confusion in it.

If the thread is from the northeast US, it probably leaked out through a crack in its shock absorbers.
