some threads don't wrap text properly?

Why is it that some posts don't text-wrap well? Here's an example:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum...ML/000014.html

When I view it, rather than wrapping the text so it fits in the window, I end up with horizontal scroll bars, which makes the thread difficult to read. The width seems to be a property of the first post in the thread when this happens.

David,

Are you (like me) one of the few remaining Netscape holdouts?

I hate to say this, but try viewing it with IE just to see if that is indeed the problem.

It was a good guess that I do, in fact, use netscape 4.77 on my non-Windows machines.

However, this particular thread doesn't wrap text properly in IE5.5 either. The long URL on the bottom of doc's post does wrap at the '?', but the remainder of it is on one long line .. I think it ends up at Rudi's sidecar glass next to his monitor. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

May I suggest to people that if they are posting a long URL, that they use the the URL= "FlyerTalk code" tag to make a true hyperlink. Therefore, instead of just pasting in the ridiculously long and ugly URL that no one really needs to read, you get a short "click here kind of message instead.

Nice. I never knew how this worked before. Thanks, FewMiles. (I did have to click on the "*UBB Code is ON" in the "Reply" box to get some more info.)

very unfair ... - as I have to read this (sidecar) right now (early morning in witzerland) and I never-ever had a side-car at home (or at my office) yet. I might change that rule now ...

Rudi:

If you make one I hope its better than the one (my first) that I tried in the library bar at the lil' ol local Hyatt last weekend.

The bartender described it as basically a brandy margarita. I hope the real thing is better than what I had.

It was a good one .. I couldn't resist. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
