Well, whatever maintenance was done yesterday was certainly successful... things are much faster.
Don't care much for the blue highlighting: it clashes with the brown background... but change the background!
The smiley for "big grin"
has been changed, in color and expression... new one is kind of repulsive... please change it back.

Yes unfortunately the cookies still do not work. For a while I was seeing FlyerTalk version 5.5 so I wonder if more upgrades are in the works.
I like the new big grin.

Cookies work OK in IE 5 Win 98 environment. If still having a problem go to your cookies folder and delete the "forum" cookies and start over again. Just resetting preferences has not always worked in the past. Make sure you check the box that says "store info for 1 year" when resetting your preferences/profile.

Hello all and thank you for your feedback.
I just wanted to let you know that we appreciate your patience and that we are still continueing to work on the cookie & speed issues of FlyerTalk.
I spent many hours yesterday and during the last week attempting to get the UBB upgrade in place. The one that UBB assured me would fix these cookie problems. I hadn't anticipated any problems as the upgrades have never been much of a problem in the past...but alas, this one is giving me a bit of problem for some reason. I managed to get some of it in place, as you can see, but not the critical pieces which was my real goal.
I need to contact UBB again and look over their technical support forums and see if I can determine why this should be a problem. In the meantime keep hanging in there and we'll get this resolved asap.

ThanX...

Is there any hope for the Netscape cookies? I really like the site, and I understand that there is only limited money for the provider. But the lack of the cookies really makes it much more difficult to use the site.

Netscape has lots of bugs... as a web site developer it is exasperating to constantly have to work around them. You do want to please all your customers, but the Netscape software is just not up to Microsoft quality and so it takes a lot of work. Of course IE has some bugs too, like the one that made the seat selector not work on ITN for months and months. If only we had a monopoly...

OMNI warning- Since I'm now still using IE5 (with 128 bit encryption), I've often wondered about the value (or pitfalls) of downloading 5.01. Five was such an improvement over both the old 4 and Netscape, IMHO. I'm relatively happy with it. Is 5.05 so much faster? Am I missing the boat here? Any relavent experienes in general or specifically with FT?

Hello everyone. This is particularly for sbrower but I'm sure it will be of interest to everybody.
We are still working on the cookie problem...as I'm sure you're all aware
and UBB, the creator of our Bulletin Board software, assures me that their latest upgrade should fix the problems with the cookies. However, I made an attempt to install the upgrade last Saturday and ran into other technical complications. The upgrades are always something of a problem but nothing like this last one.
I have notified UBB of the problems and I will be attempting another upgrade this Saturday evening. Hopefully, if all goes well, you will have a new and greatly improved BB by next Monday.
I can't tell you how much all of this saddens me and how much we appreciate your patience...you're a very wonderful group of people and it's nice to share a part of your lives.

I am looking forward to the upgrade - I hope it works Michael. As a quick guesstimate, i reckon that traffic here is down to about 20% of what it was before the cookie problems started. One thing that is interesting - most of the 'general' topics that are ongoing at the moment have gravitated back to the Buzz... like in ye olden dayes.
