Ad Choices Link Superimposed on posts

Is anyone else having an issue with the small AdChoices link being superimposed over the text in a post? If you move your cursor over the text, it will shows a link (I assume to whatever ad they are advertising). I have seen it in just about every post I go to read (more towards the bottom the page).

Can you post a screen shot and a link to the page where it's happening?

HawaiiTrvlr Jan 27, 2014 12:50 pm

Ok, it happened today. I have a screen shot but not sure how to upload it.

You can put it into a photo album here and post the link from there, or post it to a free sharing site like Photobucket and post the link from there.

This how-to sticky may help:

How (and where) to embed your pictures in the Travel Photography forum

See if this works

It is also in the album of my profile if that shows a bigger picture.

Hmmmm are you sure that's not some adware you picked up in your browser?

HawaiiTrvlr Jan 27, 2014 3:20 pm

Not that I am aware of. It is only on Flyertalk when it appears. I have ran different scans and nothing appears. I use both Google Chrome and Mozilla. It is more prominent on Google Chrome. It doesn't appear on any other website I am looking at other than FlyerTalk Same thing with Mozilla but the little AdChoice icons/links are less prominent (if I am viewing FlyerTalk).

My techs suggest you click on the ad to see where it leads and if it takes you to the same place every time or not. If you're reluctant to click, you could try to right-click and choose "Copy Link Address" and paste that into a forum post so we can see where the ad would take you.

I get the same thing when I try to use FT via mercury browser on iPad with ad blocking enabled.

You also appear to be using an ad blocking add-in — I'm not annoyed enough to figure out exactly what causes it, but it seems some blockers fail to work completely on flyertalk.

FlyerTalk is an advertising-supported site. The use of ad blockers is not condoned and can result in functional issues. You're on your own with that one.

Well, I guess it's lucky for me that I wasn't the one seeking assistance.

I was merely attempting to give the OP some useful support info that might actually help him/her to understand, and possibly resolve his/her problem, based on my own observations.

Good luck, OP.

Thanks for the help. It doesn't happen all the time and is only a very small annoyance sometimes.
