posts and edits timing out

I've been trying to post a not particularly long message and it's been timing out instantly when I click on the "post" button. At that point, I get a message to try again but all of my previously entered post text is lost.

After this happened several times, I decided to try to post in smaller chunks, doing several short paragraphs separately. I managed to get my first sentence or two posted, and then I went back to edit in order to add text. This time when I clicked on the post button, FT again gave me the timing out error message and it DELETED what I had previously posted.

Editing obviously should not delete the post one is editing. If FT really did time out, shouldn't the previous version of the post remain in the thread?

MSPeconomist Apr 24, 2012 1:04 pm

FT just timed out three times as I tried to post the above message.

MSPeconomist Apr 24, 2012 1:05 pm

Fortunately I was able to save my text and not have to reenter it by using the back button. This did not work on the previous thread where I was trying to post. There the back button gave me a blank box.

Kagehitokiri Apr 24, 2012 1:16 pm

real problems today

goalie Apr 24, 2012 1:35 pm

Same problem for me (and I've gotten to the point that if I am posting, I copy the text just in case using the "back button doesn't work but it is also happening when I click to open a post or forum or click the "post reply" button for this post (happened 4 times)

I can't even get logged on using my pc (posting this using the app). Even without logging in I can't move between pages when reading without timing out.

WIRunner Apr 24, 2012 1:44 pm

I'm getting 404 errors, and time out errors pretty regularly.

jasonvr Apr 24, 2012 2:17 pm

Happening here too. Timing out on replies, 404 errors, timing out on PM's. Also really slow response times/page load times

Kagehitokiri Apr 24, 2012 2:19 pm

MSPeconomist, use edit history, it worked for me

MSPeconomist Apr 24, 2012 2:59 pm

Now I'm getting a lot of "page cannot be found on server" error messages.

FT also won't let me click back to a post which was quoted.

+1.

PS - Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Cheers.

JDiver Apr 24, 2012 6:46 pm

These are occurring for me too, and with moderation issues making it difficult. On occasion, a reply will go dead, or give me a 404 or even "no such page" issues.

WIRunner Apr 24, 2012 6:47 pm

Now I'm getting Unable To Connect

IBobi Apr 25, 2012 1:12 pm

We had major network issues yesterday.

Should be back to semi-normal today on FT but other sites are reporting sluggishness, timeouts and errors, so we may have to be patient a while longer.

Thank you,

Paul

WIRunner May 5, 2012 3:04 pm

I seem to be having a lot of connection errors today. It is just FT that this problem is happening on. Anyone else?

I've been getting "Connection Reset" errors every time I try and load FT. Requires the page to be reloaded a couple of times before I can go in and read.

SanDiego1K May 5, 2012 6:50 pm

There was a network issue this morning. IB believes the problem is resolved. Please post if it isn't.

It's not for me.

I just went to FT again and got the 'Connection Reset' error I've been getting all day. Two 'reloads' and I'm here, but it's still performing as it has for me all day.

obscure2k May 5, 2012 7:10 pm

Glitchy for me right now.

cblaisd May 5, 2012 7:23 pm

Ditto here too.

FriendlySkies May 5, 2012 7:42 pm

Same problem here

SanDiego1K May 5, 2012 7:51 pm

Me, too.

Our IB tech guy has escalated the issue internally.

tcook052 May 5, 2012 9:39 pm

Yup, been working off & on for me and my ancient windows PC so good thing the tech. troops are working on it. ^

Not able to access FT with Firefox

Last night and this morning (GMT+2) I was unable to access FT at all. I then tried using Chrome and can access it, but only intermittently.

I have tried clearing the cache on both browsers. Rebooting does not help.

With Firefox I just get nothing at all.

Now this Post will not post (using Chrome).

(Ahem: as can be seen, it posted after some delay)

.....

FlyingOnceMore May 6, 2012 7:11 am

Looks like an IB wide problems. Several of their sites are suffering from the same thing.

the_happiness_store May 6, 2012 8:14 am

That's good to know. Initially I rebooted thinking it was my machine but it wasn't.

BryanIAH May 6, 2012 9:13 am

Same issue here. FT only loads after the 2nd or 3rd refresh attempt.

WIRunner May 6, 2012 9:37 am

seems to be getting progressively worse.

MR_MAMA May 6, 2012 9:46 am

Same problem on the IPAD using Safari. Frustrating, over 24 hours now

Canarsie May 6, 2012 10:02 am

I have been experiencing this “page reset” issue since yesterday — and although it is a minor inconvenience for me at best, I also hope that it is resolved as soon as possible.

Kagehitokiri May 6, 2012 10:29 am

im not seeing the previous issue, but rather >

"can’t open the page “” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again."

squeakr May 6, 2012 10:56 am

ditto

Still happening to me. Can't use pulldown from URL address bar without getting the connection error. Have to manually type in address to get to front page. Once on FT, any click on a link also produces the same error. Hitting "submit reply" same--usually takes 2-3 tries to get something up.

So far, not seeing this on any other websites.

WIRunner May 6, 2012 11:33 am

the mobile app isn't working very well either.

Bago'peanuts May 6, 2012 3:58 pm

Today I'm getting the 'page reset' issue about every 4 or 5 clicks. At least it doesn't seem as frequent as it did during yesterday's visits. FT IT, I hope your management will buy you some coffee.

All seems OK this morning. Realised how much I miss FT when I can't get on to it!

I can't get logged on any way other than the app. And even then I'm having problems.
