My subscriptions keep dropping
It might be a one-off but for no apparent reason at all, anywhere between 1-5 of my 19 subscribed threads "decide" to drop their subscription* and this can be whether I post in one of the subscribed thread or not and if I do post in one of the subscribed threads, it can be either via my browser (Safari) or via the FT mobile app on my iPod.
*the latest thread to drop (which I have now re-subscribed) is this one which dropped last night after I posted in it via the FT app |
By "drop" do you mean they no longer show up in your list of subscribed threads, or you are not getting the email notification (which is a sitewide problem at the moment)?

Are you, by any chance, using the flyertalk iPhone app?

It happened again last night :(
the following 3 threads dropped-and all from the TalkBoard 2011 Elections Forum (yeah, Im running for Talkboard ;) and I subscribe not only to the forum but also each new question thread as it opens up) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/talkb...community.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/talkb...rm-limits.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/talkb...vel-sites.html |
Bumping this as it happened again
3/21: The following threads dropped from my subscriptions http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...hread-pss.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/check...-1-2012-a.html 3/22: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...hread-pss.html |
I've alerted tech.
Can you fill me in on what browser/version you're using, if you're using the app as well, etc? |
Thanks for getting back to me :) and I am using both Safari* (primary) and firefox** (secondary and rarely used for F/t) as well as the iPhone*** app
*5.0.6 **3.6.16 ***most up to date iPhone app (sorry but I don't know where to look for the version number :() |
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your POV) this does not seem to be a FT site issue; unless this is happening to more members we have to assume it's a local issue at your browser/ISP/etc.
I'm wondering how you've been setting the subscriptions that are dropping off as opposed to the ones that are sticking with you -- differently? Are the ones that dropped ones that you set in FF versus Safari for the others or vice-versa? Or maybe even you set them through the app? |

Edited to add: This thread also dropped overnight and I did not post to it yesterday http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...hread-pss.html |
I'm not seeing other reports of this; I would try CTRL-F5 to refresh your browser, try a different browser.
|
Also I'm wondering if you are inadvertently unsubscribing using the App.
Maybe try not using it for a few days and seeing if your unsubscribes stop happening? |

Maybe try not using it for a few days and seeing if your unsubscribes stop happening? But I will add one data point and that is that I did not get my iPhone until mid November and I did not have a smart phone prior to that and this was happening back in October during the talk board candidate discussions And to add, my last post in this "dropped" thread was 4/11 which dropped on 4/12 if that helps |
I posted to the following thread last night via the app on my iPhone and was very careful to make sure that I did not unsubscribe (or do anything else other than just post) and it again dropped from my list of subscribed threads.....
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...hread-pss.html |
...so did you get any dropped threads while you were not using the app, or is it dropping only while using the app?
|
It started in October and that was before I got my iphone in Novmeber

Unfortunately my technician has not been able to replicate this behavior. Given that it only seems to be happening to your account, it seems like an error on your end but I have no idea what could be doing it.
I use 3 devices-laptop, desktop and iPhone and each time I log out using either the laptop and the desktop, I mark all forums as read (can't do that on the iPhone) and have not changed any settings on any of the devices Also, I posted this from my iPhone last night and the thread dropped from my subscriptions when I looked this morning. |

I'm not a techie, but I'll take a shot at it - If I'm understanding what I quoted above correctly, when you're done with your FT experience (I like the way that sounds :D), you hit the "Log Out" link every time, regardless of device? If the answer is yes, maybe try staying logged in on all devices and see if the behavior of subscriptions continues?

If you'd like me to try a shot in the dark, I can disconnect your profile from Facebook Connect and see if that helps. There have been various and sundry issues with FB Connect and, what the heck? You've got a normal email address registered with us...
Let me know. |

As my late grandmother would say, I don't want to give it the bad eye ;) but it seems to be working so maybe whatever you did worked? :)
Let me know if it comes back. I don't really know what to do next, but at least we'll know if it didn't work. |

Looks like I did give it the bad eye as the subscription in question dropped again overnight :(
