Just curious as to why some posters have advertisements embedded in their posts? Are they getting paid? What's up?

Thanks for posting. Starting a few days ago, I keep getting ads obscuring parts of the first post or two in many threads. Is this my browser, ISP, FT or some other nefarious activity? I am assuming the posters are not responsible, but it sure is aggravating.

Agree it's annoying. Note there is a Technical Issues forum to discuss these tech foibles that might be a better topic venue.

It's a "feature" of the web site, and yes, sometimes the banner ads on the right obscure the text of the messages. You can eliminate the ads by getting a paid subscription.

Or by using an in-browser ad-blocking plugin.

Those ads are how Internet Brands, the company that runs FlyerTalk, makes money. None of it goes to the folks where the ads are in their posts.

Unlike the embedded pictures in posts, those ads are not "embedded."

You may want to catch up with this (sampled) thread: Ad blocks FT content and see how revenue-generating ads by IB are (sometimes) interfering regular FTers' enjoyment of this site.

FWIW, it's not the first time FTers complaining about how IB implements ads that "annoy" us. Most people try either FT Premium or (free) ad-blocking programs to break free from such annoyance. ;)
