A more fragmented FlyerTalk, that's what.
Just because a program has a lot of members or locations doesn't necessarily mean it will generate a lot of activity on FT. TripRewards has over 6,000 participating hotels - the forum has very little activity and should be rolled back into the Other Hotels Forum. So should Best Western. |

you consider it easier to use, so we should all be doing it. Well I've tried it, and I don't like it. I found it annoying. I'll keep browsing FT in the way I prefer - and remembering in my role as a TB member that we all have our preferred methods for using FT and that there is no one true way.

Yes please, can we have a dedicated Choice forum!
As I stated in the other thread running in the "Other Hotel Programs" section,
I think this is a great idea, the sooner the better. I'm usually more of a viewer than a poster on the threads, but from my perspective the more dedicated threads the better. However, if the discussion is about which program(s) Choice Privileges, Gold Crown or TripRewards deserves their own threads, I would rank it: 1) CP 2) GC 3) TR |
Same here.
|
I'd like to see a separate Choice Privileges Forum too. When I first found FT, it was easy to see my airline programs and another hotel program I use; but it took a while to find the CP info and it was 'scattered' with various threads. One location would be most helpful.

My motion to create this forum is lingering in the private TB forum without a second (which is required before it can go to a vote). If this is something that posters want then i would recommend making your case for it here as I suspect that other members of the TB are waiting to see a greater degree of interest in such a forum as well as some more well-thought-out arguments in favor...
|
I am considering seconding the motion, but at this point don't see enough of a passionate following for this motion, which is one of koko's (excellent, I should add) criteria for establishing a new forum. If you want to voice your opinion one way or another feel free to do so, as that's how we make our decisions (or at least I do, other TB members may feel differently;)).

I would like to suggest to the TB members that "poster action" be considered in addition to "poster passion"- if there seem to be enough posts and topics on the program to split it off from the catch-all forum then it makes sense to me to do so. |

Don't you worry your pretty little head koko, I'll think of the clutter.
It will always be about the clutter. Oh, and you don't have to seek poster input. I don't really care if you do or not. But don't seek input after you've already voted. That just creates..... clutter. |
In the forums for upscale hotel chains, there are long threads about things like: changes in toiletries; contents of amenity baskets; etc. These types of threads are probably never going to exist in a Choice Privileges forum, just as they aren't likely to appear in the Best Western forum. So the raw number of threads or posts in a Choice Privileges forum may never rival some of the other forums.
What is important about Choice Privileges: There are more options for importing and exporting points than some other programs have. This is exactly the kind of thing that will increase the interest of many Flyertalkers in a program. I don't expect that there would ever be impassioned Flyertalk discussions about the Econolodge in Muscatine. If anyone wants to read about the Econolodge in Muscatine, they will just look in mytravelguide or tripadvisor. To the extent that there is interest in some Choice hotels among Flyertalkers because they are relatively upscale (Cambria) or in good or interesting locations, they would be more likely to post these in a Choice Privileges forum than they would in the "Other Hotel Programs" forum. For example, I had a very nice stay in a very inexpensive Comfort in Shinsaibashi in Osaka. I would have never considered posting about that in the "Other Hotel Programs" forum. I might have posted in a Choice Privileges forum, though. There are generous bonuses that appear often, where points can be racked up fairly easily. The program is growing and changing and experiencing some hiccups along the way. This is grist for opinions, tips, and arguments among Flyertalkers. |
I figure that any program that deserved a Freddie deserves a forum, so I seconded the motion.
The voting period will in all likelihood commence tomorrow, so those of you who really want this forum, can start putting forth your very good persuasive arguments to encourage the other TalkBoard members to cast positive votes. |
CP should have its own forum. To appease those who complain about clutter, perhaps remove the bestwestern forum.
