I will remember all nine TB members with a new respect and appreciation; and any who choose to run again will be in the forefront of candidates whom I consider supporting.

As I have said in Omni, those who moved for the passage of this motion should excuse themselves from Omni since it doesn’t serve their cause… that’s just my opinion..

As the person who made this motion -- and who has at least twice the number of Omni posts that you do -- I completely disagree.

There was no argument being made to close Omni or to keep anyone from posting in it. In fact, the motion specifically guaranteed that anyone currently Omni-enabled would be allowed to continue to post there, even if his post count dropped below 180.

This motion was about counting posts, not about posting.

If Randy feels that because I do not favor counting Omni posts he wants to remove all such posts from my count, I will not object in the slightest.

As I said in another thread where you made the same statement, if there is anybody who judges his own worth on the number of posts listed under his name, or the title which appears there, he has a serious self-esteem problem.

... and when other people do it we have a TB motion!

Then why bring up this motion in the first place? It looks to me as if some evangelist got threatened by Omni posters joining their ranks.. Omni posts don’t harm anyone and if that threatens you then I guess you shouldn’t be around FT in the first place.. :rolleyes: So the real issue here isn’t Post count, is it? It looks like to me and others the real issue is protecting some people’s Evangelist titles…

If you don’t care about titles or whatnot, then I ask you make a motion to eliminate the FT title status..

I have already said both in public forums and on the private TB forum that I favor getting rid of both post counts and all titles -- not just "Evangelist" and "Legend" but also "Moderator" and "TalkBoard Member". (The latter two would and should be used when the poster is writing in his official position.)

Currently, there is no point in my making such a motion as I do not see any chance of it passing.

I do not intend to waste TB's time, and start off another big debate here, on any motion unless I believe that there is a possibility of it passing.

Frankly, I have a great deal of respect for all of the members of the TalkBoard, regardless of which side of the issue they voted.

Of the nine TalkBoard members, I have personally met six of them, five of them more than once. Of the remaining three, I have communicated with all of them more than once. I am confident that I know all nine TalkBoard members well enough to comment.

I do not believe there was an ulterior motive, regardless of which side of the issue they voted. Rather, I believe that this issue was communicated to them by other FlyerTalk members, which resulted in their response to act accordingly in the interest of serving the membership of FlyerTalk. I am certain that the reaction included intense discussion and careful consideration.

I also believe that there was no other intention of the TalkBoard members other than to attempt to do what is right and what is best for FlyerTalk. Serving on behalf of the membership of FlyerTalk is their ultimate responsibility, and I believe they were acting to the best of their abilities.

I commend each one of them for the thankless task of taking on this contentious and controversial issue, regardless of their position.

Well, TalkBoard members, your task is no longer thankless. I want to thank all of you for trying to make FlyerTalk a better place for all of us, and thank your for your selfless volunteer service to the FlyerTalk community at large. Thank you also for launching this thread to listen to what other members of the FlyerTalk community have to say.

Like Gargoyle, I appreciate and respect what you have done for the community. Please do not let the criticism quell your desire to serve the FlyerTalk community, no matter how controversial the issue might be.

I have been approached quite a number of times to run for TalkBoard, but I simply do not have the spare time to currently serve FlyerTalk and its members well enough to consider taking on the job. I realize the work and effort that it takes to do the job correctly. However, for those of you who truly believe and think that you can do a better job, I encourage you to run, don’t walk (a Dovster-ism), for the job of TalkBoard member when it is time for the next election.

Again, TalkBoard members — thank you for your service to FlyerTalk.

I think there's enough members here who doesn’t mind the removal of title status.. Though I’d guess those who were for the removal of Omni posts might object.. :rolleyes:

Thank you to those who voted against the proposal, but thanks to all TB members for devoting the energy and concern to doing what you think is best for FT regardless of your vote. I may not agree with every vote, but I firmly believe that all TB members vote their heart based on what they think is best for FT.

Perhaps one day FlyerTalk will jettison its burdensome and inconvenient attention to "miles and points" entirely. We can only hope that day is sooner rather than later. :rolleyes:

Many thanks to all the TalkBoard members for their efforts and for keeping cool throughout this contentious debate.

It would appear that all TalkBoard members listened to the community, weighed the input, and voted their conscience, without bias, and, moreover, consistently refusing to accept bribes of miles and points from any quarter. ;)

We should be so lucky as to have all of our elected representatives behave in this honorable fashion.
