Scott as you are the Bulletin Board king and web savvy perhaps you might volunteer your time to do it? You do after all find time to make hilariously humorous posts on all these matters within minutes of them being posted, so updating Town Hall surely you might manage to squeeze in among the alleged comedy routine? :)

It was fully a month back this vote being posted to Town Hall was promised:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showp...4&postcount=14

And had I not raised it now it may for all we know have never been recorded on Town Hall.

Glen, I can assure you it WOULD have been posted, there are a number of reasons it hasn't happened yet:

1) There are an awful lot of things happening in the Talkboard at the moment, including a "change of power" to a new president.

2) It's summertime, some members are travelling.

I'll get in touch with Spiff to ask if he can get it done, or if he wants my help.

Thanks for your concerns and interest in the Talkboard!

missydarlin Aug 16, 2004 2:19 pm

hows this for font and color?

Spiff has in fact been travelling, and was here in Seattle ^ this past weekend.

I'm sure he'll get to it when he can. But contrary to the accusation that

there is still not a single word on the date this President was "elected", the vote totals if there was in fact a formal election and eventual Candidates (or lack thereof.)
there have been several words on the vote and soon, you'll be able to find them in TWO places.

As you seem to have such a fascination with the timeliness of town hall updates, can I assume that I will see you on the ballot of the next TB general election? Once you're elected, you can take over the duties and make sure all the "fascinated parties" are duly satisfied.

Just one smiley, and no "rolleyes" smiley. I give it a 5/10.

Both of those posts show thast the RESULTS are in.

FASCINATING

Presuming one of the places is the Town Hall Forum, that will indeed be welcome. And long overdue IMHO.

That is all that is being asked for despite your apparent desire to trivialise this matter. IMHO.

And surprisingly, there are those who could care less about the Talkboard and their activities. Fascinating, yet true! :)

skofarrell,

You are right on!

I am FASCINATED by watching people who are FASCINATED with the TB!

I think that some people need to get a hobby.

(Note to some people. Posting on FT doesn't count as a "hobby". Obsession perhaps, but not "hobby".)

I agree! I think that photography is an excellent hobby!

Absolutely. And those that DO have an interest are surely entitled to be updated in a vaguely timely and professional fashion about what they are doing, as promised and facilitated by Randy.

I think I am getting more confused about the whole Talk Board thing than I was when I started this thread.

ScottC told me two things in reply to my question:

1. Talk Board does not have responsibility for moderators.

2. I can find out what Talk Board does on Town Hall.

As far as I can see there, in the 14 months since I have been on Flyer Talk, Talk Board made two decisions, establishing the Disability and Emirates forums. It may also have rejected some forums, but I can't tell because there are no dates for those votes shown.

(I also know that it elected a president for itself, but that is not shown there.)

Apparently, Talk Board does not do a lot. That is not a criticism, simply an observation. I don't know why it does not -- maybe Randy does not give it very much latitude, maybe it has no interest in doing other things, maybe there is nothing else that needs to be done.

What makes me confused about the whole thing is why a board which is not very active:

1. Had a hotly contested election. (Seriously, why would anybody care who is or is not on a board with such little activity?)

2. Why is there such controversy about it in this thread? Usually, such strong feelings are engendered by much more zealous organizations.

There may well be something below ground which I am not seeing. At the risk of opening old wounds, would somebody please let me know what it is all about? (You can write to me at [email protected] if you prefer not discussing in in an open forum.)

Thanks.

If someone has a problem with how the TB is run and wants to keep invoking Randy's name I strongly suggest that they contact Randy directly.

Entitled? Why?

Promised? By whom? Where?

This may help Dov: http://www.flyertalk.com/townhall/talkboard.php

The only inaccuracy here is that I believe there are 9 members, not 12.
