I can answer that for you.
One was not deserved. |
Thank you. So it seems the new TOS now say insulting remarks need not be accountable for by cartain posters if they so decide?
|
I will happily plead guilty to engaging in the same inappropriate behavior as Doc and Dorian in this mess, and accept a time out along with them.
Or, as it seems that no such action will be taken, conclude that this behavior (beiing acceptable for them) is acceptable for me. I am long past having offered truces and having my peace offering slapped away. If this behavior is acceptable for them, then it is acceptable for me, and no apology is needed, save for one to the entire FT community, for being the person to discover that this is so. That is the last question I will answer on this thread. Anyone else wishing a dialog can use e-mail. Anyone trying to bait me or call me out on this thread after this post is just successfully showing themselves to be the problem. Put it to bed folks. Thank you. I missed the thread where Dorian personally insulted anyone this week.

I'm sorry I'm not understanding some of inferences against myself in this thread.
As far as my thread in Randy's forum calling for action against the TOS violations by NJDavid and essxjay, I have always understood that this is one way to get Randy's attention over such matters (knowing that he had already been emailed regarding it much earlier). I don't see how I playing "king" or "God" nor where I violated any TOS and would need to 'serve a timeout with NJDavid (who has directly insulted FT'ers by name) & Doc. NJDavid, you say "put it to bed folks". Why don't YOU put it to bed? Why are there so many posts by YOU in this thread? Certainly don't seem to be letting anything go even remotely buddy. If NJDavid and essxjay are not censured in some format for TOS violations does it mean FT TOS can be broken at will? If so, someone please let me know!! Dorian |

I suggest you read the Randy Petersen Forum via this link as it too has been suspended from normal viewing, BUT the flames still burn brightly even as I type this. It is clear to me a simple apology from essexjay at some point in that thread Dorian started calling for some censure action would have settled the heat. And been polite. None was forthcoming, and that Forum and Omni exploded and were subsequently closed. </font> If you are talking about this thread ... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum97/HTML/000672.html ...then I'm not sure what your point is. The vast majority of the discussion was the continuation of the NJ/Doc "I'm unable to not have the last word" festival, and the drinking habits of our Kokolush. As I stated before..I believe the Essexjay furor was part of the closing of OMNI, but certainly not the sole reason for it. But back to the original topic of this thread..or at least one of the original topics. Ernest made his statement days after the fact in multiple forums..neither of which were appropriate for the topic, He (nor do we) know if anything has already been done because again..its none of our business. Its between Ess, Doc, and Randy. |
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by NJDavid: That being the case, why don't we take out a full page ad in the NY times, and describe what a terrible person she is. What was the motivation for the public trashing? Believe me, it was far from an altruistic gesture.</font> |
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by PG: As I stated above - posting is ok. If one prefers to use email, that is fine too.</font> Would it not have been far better then for Ess, and for you, for that matter, to also have emailed Randy, and I, rather than to post the "offensive" material(s)? Just asking! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif And for the sake of clarity, neither Ess or NJDavid have now offered, or EVER offered, any apology, of any kind, public or private, at any time, EVER. Excepting one ultimately answered email reply from them, stemming from a comment I'd initiated previously, neither has ever emailed me either - at any time! Incidentally, this remark is "fact based" only in the sense that I have actually never personally received anything from them! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Yet, of course, tomorrow is another day! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Again, for the record, as most FT'ers are perhaps all too acutely aware, I have personally and VERY publicly apologized for any perceived offense(s) that I may have "committed" on numerous occasions. Let me please restate that "I am sorry!" FT is a wonderfully great place to visit! As was once noted so very simply, and yet so very eloquently by "dgolds" a long while back and expressed in various ways by others... "Folks, we have something rare and good going on here. Let's try and keep it that way." FWIW, IMHO, from my limited sense of what has lead to a possibly decreasing level of participation of "prominent" FT'ers of the past, it has been the increasing flames, bitterness and acrimony that causes it. As I'd noted previously, politely offering a few suggestions to consider prior to criticizing other FT'ers: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum73/HTML/000338.html |
Right now, and for some time the CURRENT "rules" allegedly applying to all users of these boards say the following - any bolding being mine for emphasis, as those words seem pertinent right now: Any posts containing communications that are knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, obscene, profane, threatening, harassing, offensive, vulgar, abusive, hateful or bashing -- especially those aimed at sexual orientation, gender, race, color, religious views, national origin, or disability - will not be tolerated and will be removed. Individuals who do not abide by these rules are subject to having their FlyerTalk account permanently deleted. The current TOS goes on to say: Personal attacks on individuals, insults and "flaming" will not be tolerated and will be removed. and concludes with: Is there a formal discipline policy for members who don't follow the rules? Yes there is. Any member whose behavior causes disruption on the message boards, either because of the tone and language of their posts or their attitude toward other members, may lose their posting privileges for one week. Members who become disruptive a second time are issued a one-month timeout. A third strike results in a permanent withdrawal of the offending member's posting privileges. I can't see that NJDavid posting "a sniveling little man with a mean streak that far exceeds his size"about another member - without apology - does not clearly contravene these rather clear-cut terms. I look forward to FT removing those words as they promise - and indeed several other personal attack phrases used recently by other members and/or Moderators, and these boards return to civility. |
And I and others saw Doc's posting of 7 seperate links to my posts in 7 seperate threads, insinuating I have mental ilness, criticizing my posts for no reason and the countless times he has tried to portray me in a bad light as justification for much worse words than I actually used.
In addition - the current TOS also states very clearly that Doc's original actions were as clearly in violation as any of mine: <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Actions That Will Compel FlyerTalk Intervention Inappropriate Posts Off topic Posts Off topic posts take two general forms: Posts within a discussion thread that detract from the topic being discussed. Topic-starting posts that are placed in an inappropriate forum. When determining in which forum to place a topic-starting post, pay close attention to the forum description. Duplicate Posts Identical posts placed on more than one discussion thread. Many participants in our community are very frequent visitors and weeding through the same message in multiple locations can be frustrating, and downright annoying. Good online manners dictate that you don't post the same message more than once. The online word for posting the same message in multiple locations is "spamming." We don't allow that.</font> But, an offer of truce and peace has been made, and is still awaiting acceptance from all of the parties. I see now, that "all of the parties" includes you CoachClass for you have surely caused a clear violaton of the currently posted TOS in posting this and similar statements in multiple forums. I hate to interrupt the internet lynch mob, but there is only one person who decides who should be suspended from Flyertalk.
That person is me. Once I buy the boad from Randy, that is. But since I'm going to sink all my money into Enron options, that isn't going to happen. As for essxjay, I've never met her, but I enjoy her posts very much. She is a valued contributor to this site, and has been for some time. And she has taken on the thankless job of moderator, for which she should be thanked (and I think she is an outstanding moderator). |
