Well spotted. Childish and silly IMHO. :td:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/searc...2&pp=25&page=2 Oddly when this person DOES post on airline Forums - several different - he/she does seem to know their stuff. Be nice to see him/her get to the 100 posts they appear to be seeking via 20 of the quite informative posts that one can see a few of on link below. Only 20 posts to go, so who knows .... maybe they will see this thread. ;) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/searc...2&pp=25&page=1 |

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82432 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=405 This is hysterical. I followed your links this morning and saw that this person was rapid fire posting in the discontinued fora. Someone then deleted all of those posts. He's been posting nonsensical answers all over the boards in what looks to be an attempt to get to 100 posts... I noticed it on the CO board and checked out what he was posting. The question is - WHERE DOES HE REALLY WANT TO POST ?? Spam, CC, Omni? I guess those that said some people would pollute the other boards trying to get to 100 posts is happening. Mary |

In the end though, closing those forums to new posting, while quite possibly a good idea, isn't likely to prevent this sort of childish behavior. |

Mary Just curious, when the posts are deleted, are they also removed from the posters post count? BTW, who was the poster that was linked to - they were deleted before I checked them out. |

Instead of going with an automatic "100 posts and you're in" policy, how about a more positive approach?
I suggest that new members be required to get recommended by a moderator -- any moderator -- before being allowed to post on Omni, Spam, or Coupons. If someone has established a good record on one of the travel boards, and wants to go to the others, he can ask the moderators of his "home board" to recommend him. If one does, he is in. If none is willing, then he will have to wait a bit longer. |
I'd prefer the bar to be set to 250 for CC and SPAM, 100 for OMNI (since OMNI posts don't count anymore).
But back to topic: Can the discontinued programs forums please be closed to posting? |

I would personally never accept that accountability as a moderator. Takes enough time to just moderate the posts... but to now have to be the decider of when someone can post somewhere else... boy will the moderator favoritism arguments come out in force. Can you imagine 50 different moderators having 50 different standards for "recommending" a member? Also, if someone gets turned down by a moderator, do they get to go moderator shopping until someone says yes?
Everyone is raising a ruckus because one or two people decided to "game" the system to get their 100 posts... this is NOT a major problem. The appropriate moderators took action... we make it worse when we keep bring attention to the issue. William |
And not forgetting there are fora without moderators.

Discontinued Program Forums Have Been Closed to New Posts
^ ^ ^
Thanks Randy and the admin team! |
What's the point of keeping the whole section of forums on discontinued programs? Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see any value in keeping them.

What was TWA's policy on X...? Was the old Sheraton program better than the Westin program? What happened to their members when they were transitioned into Starwood Preferred Guest? Now that several US airlines face the threat of liquidation... what was the experience of other now-defunct programs in similar situations? (e.g. Ansett, Vanguard) Lots of good content from over time in those forums, even if not everyone finds the need for them. Just IMHO of course and YMMV.. |
