How about a section for security issues?

A lot of venting about TSA and such gets put into the general News group. It probably would be helpful to folks on both sides (i.e. those who are tired of the subject as well as those with a zealous pov to share) if there were a group for them.

There's the Travel Safety/Security forum. Try that one on.

Which begs the (rhetorical) question: Why doesn't the News moderator move the off-topic security posts to the Travel Safety/Security forum??????

If that's been a problem, then perhaps you should bring this to the attention of the moderator of the Newstand forum?

Thanks for the tip. I'm confident that the moderator is well aware of my views on misposted topics. Do you have any substantive comment on the issue?

Not long after the creation of the Travel Safety/Security forum, a number of similar complaints were made, each demanding that any news story having to do with the TSA/airport security/etc. be banished to that new forum.

Randy replied that news stories pertaining to the TSA were not off-topic for the "In the News" forum.

What some may not remember is that the Travel Safety/Security forum was really created in response to the large number of alleged, self-described TSA screeners who wanted to vent their spleen at Spiff and other regular "In the News" posters but couldn't be bothered to post a news story to discuss.

Fortunately, most of them quickly tired of posting on FlyerTalk and those that remain today are, for the most part, more civil than some of the departed ones. Still, that forum, lacking a moderator, is not an ideal locale for serious discussions.
