Well, I guess be now Bryan, you can consider your baby a "go". I think it would be a great addition to my already swelling e-mail affirmative hits. Count me in, and ask my opinion on something...anything (but women)!
|
I think we already have several experts on women:
Rudi - how to pick up sex objects Catman - how women are impressed by elite cards arturo - Diamonds are a girl's best friend My apologies to anyone I left out. |
Gee, I wonder if there are any Webflyers who really understand women??
At least arturo is on the right track. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
Caution, posting by brand new wet behind the ears webflyer... Periodical newsletter is a great idea. What I would like to see included are the discussions of pro/con on current issues and offers (comparable to the earlier threads on the e-trade offer and the "new" Fidelity/Amex account). Those were helpful in evaluating what a webflyer might do. Little hints like getting Hertz to put in both the airline FF# and the Marriott number (while it lasted)are gems that make a difference to us mileage-poor newbies. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Many thanks. I'll be watching for that inaugural issue!
BTW, y'all gonna put your party announcements in a subscription newsletter?! Look out party animals... |
I've been thinking about this newsletter idea over the last couple of days and here are some more thoughts, in no particular order...
1) First - bryan, perhaps it would be worth putting a post somewhere "higher" up on the board, like in "Buzz", or better yet "Community" asking for suggestions, or maybe redirecting people to this thread. Quite frankly, I'm not sure how many people regularly check "Suggestions". (Although, you might prove me wrong if you've gotten lots of off-line responses from the FT community that I'm not aware of.) 2) Depending on the amount of resources @ InsideFlyer and/or your own sanity, maybe you want to start out with a less ambitious schedule, like every other week for the newsletter? Of course, that might make it tougher to summarize the latest happenings on the board. 3) I believe Randy mentioned elsewhere that you guys are working on tweaking the site software to track stats on numbers of times a thread has been viewed, etc. I think some stats like that would be interesting as well. Number of new threads. Number of overall posts. (Better watch out - the accountant in me in showing now...) 4) While I think it would be entirely valid to share the latest FF tips, etc in the newsletter, I think you might have to pay attention that you don't end up duplicating a lot of the type of material which is already covered in InsideFlyer. If there is some way to keep the focus of the newsletter more on the community and experience which is FT, that's more what I'd be looking for. 5) In that vein, perhaps each newsletter, or on a periodic basis, could include a bio of a FT member. I know there might be concerns about privacy, but enuf people might be willing to open up. To some degree a bio function is already served by Who We All Are I, II & III, but perhaps something like this has its place in the newsletter. Maybe it's as simple as highlighting the newest people who've posted to WWAA. Another alternative just now occurs to me: the bio could be focused exclusively on "life" on FT. For instance, "Catman, and the role he's play on FT over the last year", or something like that. This would also address privacy concerns by not going into external (to FT) issues. Okay, enuf ideas for one post. |
Some really good stuff in there, Bokich. The two-week interim is the way to go. Actually, I liked every suggestion you made http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif The crucial variables, as you rightly detected, will be resources and sanity.
Would it be OK if I were to enlist you in supporting this endeavor, when need be? |
....ummm....[somewhat tentatively for fear of how much time it will involve]...sure, I would be glad to help.

Tough post to follow, but I'll try...my eyes hurt!!
Bryan, I had sent Randy an e-mail a few weeks ago about restaurant reviews/suggestions that came from the 'Where to eat in Denver' thread. Maybe a section of the newsletter could cover restaurants? I know it is more your intention to update us if we haven't had a chance to review for a few days, but that could be an added 'piece of candy' for us. Hope this idea isn't too far offtrack. |
arturo themk ef shado git out of shado an ento lite, shado's I's knot hert.

Sounds a cool idea. Even cooler would be some FF miles for everyone who subscribes! http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I really like this idea. An even better idea, I think, is a personalized newsletter, where you can go to a page with all of the topics on it with checkboxes beside them. You can check the topics you are most interested in, and then, when a post is made to that topic, it is e-mailed to you. Too much clutter for some of you? Maybe, but you only have to sign up for what you want. I might even be interested in receiving all of the posts for each day every day so I can read them the next morning. What do you guys think?
