Any thoughts I might have would be purely speculative. However, you can be assured that inquiries are being made.

Does that mean enquiries are being made into the issue regarding not being able to do mobile check in with BRGs, hence rendering oneself ineligible for other "promotions"? Thanks.

Thanks. The customer service route did not work.

My original message to SPG customer service:

I am messaging regarding the 250 points promotion for doing the mobile check in between 1 May and 15 June (link here: https://www.spgpromos.com/mobileapps/faqs)

Unfortunately, I was unable to use mobile check in during my last stay and will also be unable to do it for my next stay at four points by on 15 June because the rates are best rate guarantees and this seems to make it impossible to check in using mobile check in (the feature no longer exists). I do not think it is fair to deny these bonus points simply because I got a best rate guarantee, as this defeats the purpose of having a best rate guarantee programme if promotions are denied for this reason. Otherwise, it's like only getting 1750 points for the best rate guarantee because I can't get the mobile check in bonus points. Please look into this situation. Thanks.

SPG 1st reply (They didn't even bother to read my original e-mail and it still took 3 days to get the reply:

Thank you for contacting Starwood Preferred Guest with regards to not receiving promotional points for your past stay and your upcoming stay. We are sorry to hear of your disappointment, Yorkboy24.

As the Best Available Rate is a special rate which has different Terms and Conditions than most of our rates.

If you feel your credit has not been applied correctly, please send a copy of your hotel bill (folio), credit card statement or receipts, so your request may be researched and Starpoint eligibility determined. Include the date of arrival, length of stay and your membership number. If sending a credit card statement, please be sure to indicate the hotel name if not listed on the statement.

This information may be sent to:

Email: [email protected]

Fax: 519-633-8557 or +353-21-4279224 (outside North America)

I regret any inconvenience this request may cause, however, this information is necessary in order to credit you with the appropriate number of Starpoints. Please allow 10 business days for all fax inquiries.

We appreciate your loyalty to Starwood as a Platinum member. We look forward to serving all your travel needs for the future.

My reply:

Hello,

I am disappointed that my e-mail has not been read correctly. I am NOT querying the points for the stay or for the Best Rate Guarantee - these were all posted. I am questioning why I should miss out on the 250 points for the mobile check in promotion just because I had a Best Rate Guarantee, which makes the mobile check in INACCESSIBLE. I feel that it is unfair that I can't use mobile check in just because of the BRG, thus missing out on the 250 points. Le Meridien Cyberport is a participating property in the promotion and it relates to reservation xxxxxxxxx.

Please look again at my original e-mail below and the link to the promotion.

Thanks,

SPG 2nd Reply:

Thank you for contacting Starwood Preferred Guest regarding promotional Starpoints earnings. I welcome the opportunity to assist you.

As stated in our Frequently Asked Questions, The SPG Mobile Check-In bonus points offer can not be combined with other offers. As your reservation was an approved Best Rate Guarentee Claim and you earned additional points through the Best Rate Guarentee this stay will not qualify for the SPG Mobile Check In promotion. For additional information please see paragraph two under "How can a member qualify for the SPG® Mobile Check-In 250 bonus Starpoints® offer? " at : https://www.spgpromos.com/mobileapps/faqs .

We know you have many options for your travel. We appreciate your patronage. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

That's why I ended up posting it here and seeking your help. It's a technical issue and surely a BRG rate isn't a promotion?! If I chose 25%, I wouldn't have got 2000 Starpoints - it's part of the rate for getting the BRG.

Anyway, thanks for your help in looking into this.

I stayed 2 nights at the Le Meridien Reforma Mexico City on 5/26 - 5/28.
All my starpoints were credited into my account, including the double points bonus promo that I had previously signed up for.
Does this mean having accrued points from the double points promo exclude me from this Mobile Check In bonus?

FYI, I checked in with the mobile app. Hopefully I can earn the 250 starpoints in 10-12 weeks as well.

Anyway, thanks for your help in looking into this.
Having discussed this internally, I can confirm that the BRG rate is a qualifying rate, so whoever sent you email #2 is mistaken. If you'd like for me to follow up with that person's supervisor and get them coaching on their understanding of what is and is not eligible, I would be glad to do so, but I would need your account details.

As for the technical issue with not being able to successfully check-in using the mobile app when booking the BRG rate, it has been reported to the tech team and is a known issue; however, I have no timetable to offer as far as a resolution is concerned. Indeed, it seems the offer will be over by the time that might happen.

Be that as it may, anyone who has an issue checking in using the mobile app - for this reason or any other - can send a screenshot of their attempted check-in + SPG app version & OS information to [email protected] for follow-up.

They've gotta. SPG kept sending out reminders to participate with my award stays.

According to post #22 , they are also sending out reminder emails for non-participating properties.

Lurkers, any idea? I couldn’t find the definition of eligible stay in T&Cs.
