Award booking 5th night free

If I attempt to book a 14 night award booking at Four Points Sheraton Bangkok, night 5 and 10 are free.

But if I attempt to do the same for the Westin or SGS, there are no free nights.

Isn't the promotion honored at all Category 4-7 hotels?

What are you getting, for what dates? I put in 10/1/18-10/2/18 and then 10/1/18-10/15/18 for all three.

4PT - 1 night 7,000, 14 nights 84,000 (12*7K)
Westin - 1 night 10,000 14 nights 120,000 (12*10K)
SGS - 1 night 10,000 14 nights 120,000 (12*10K)

all seems right for me.

14 nights starting 8/30/2018 and checking out 9/13/2018.

OK, now I get the same as you. Not sure what happened before.

Thanks.

Would there be merit in booking such a stay as a 15 night stay (with 3 nights free, instead of 2) to earn, for example, an extra nights credit, extra Green Choice points ... ?

It can sometimes be tricky to get your MAGC points to post correctly when you aren't actually around on check-out date (assuming you essentially mattress run the last night for the reasons you mention).

But, yeah, book the extra free night and take the status credit...

Wouldn't the hotel most likely check you out early when they notice the room vacant (unless you make an arrangement with them in advance)?

How would they notice it vacant? With MaGC, there's no reason for them to enter the room on the 14th day.

Some hotels have a 3-day maximum on consecutive nights without service being provided, so that might need to be considered.

I've done this in Dubai (Grosvenor House). Stayed 4 nights but booked for 5. At check-out, I asked the hotel to ensure that I would get credit for 5 nights. No problem.

Only if they enter the room, and there's no reason they should if you're using MaGC.

Just be aware of the possibility that you are leaving a room empty on a sold-out night, leaving another traveler without an option to stay there.
