I suspect FRA would not be allowed and SIN would be the preferred option as it is more direct (it's approx 1000 miles shorter).

Use the following website to help you calculate distances:

If the only available route (only flight) on that day is via longer route, then are you allowed to take that route?
Or, if the class you want is available but on the flight with a longer route, then is that acceptable?

As has been discussed on a number of occasions, the ICC (thus BD) are starting to clamp down on flyers who were blatantly taking them for a ride. Do expect to take the direct route, especially when going via SIN is over 1000 miles shorter.

IMHO, SQ is a better carrier than LH and as you know with rewards, one does need to be flexible with dates. If you can't be flexible, prepare to pay cold hard cash! :)

As with all timetables it can't handle complicated connections (eg overnight or multi-day wait for onward flight).

I think they meant purchase a local revenue flight, then use SAA from BOM - JNB.
