Which lounge at NRT?
Which lounge should you suggest I use at NRT? I haven't heard any exciting reviews of the NH lounge. UA and SQ also have First Class Lounges there. I have never heard anything good about a UA lounge (!) .. and haven't heard anything about this SQ lounge. Which First Class lounge should I use? Or is there another lounge I should use?
I will be flying ANA in First Class and am *Gold Thanks for the tips! ;) |
ANA (NH) uses a different terminal to SQ and UA so you wont be able to visit the Red Carpet Club or the Silver Kris Lounge.

I was there this week.
The ANA lounge is minimal in offerings. I was there from 1700-1830 on 17JAN06. They have 2 portable PCs which they can set up and sign in to if you need their internet access.
No canapes or other real food. Japanese rice cracker packages and 1 kind of cheese with crackers. Juices and liquor are in good supply - at least the 3 Russian guys seemed to think so. Seating with front-row view of the tarmac. TG A340 right outside the window when I was there. It looks like an airline in trouble that is doing the best that it can. The staff is well-groomed and courteous. Clean, and better than sitting at the gate. It's located just down the escalator from the duty-free shops that are adjacent to gate D91. UA and AC were loading from D93 with NH staff. |

What I always do is :
Take a shower at UA RCC and walk for about 5 min. to SQ. They have good food and nice champaign, and is very cosy. Although SQ has a limited working hours. Check first at SQ site |

I'm pretty sure, though, that there will be one in the F lounge as well, though. HTB. |

The NH First class lounge in Narita I have been to is in the satellite. You won't find much food on offer, some onigiri, sembei, and some cheese. It isn't a horrible lounge, it's just not up to par with major First lounges around the world in it's offerings. That said when NH and most of the *A airlines(except NZ) move to NRT 1, look for a much better offering from them (I believe it is in the late spring).
There are many discussions on the NH forum about the Signet and Club ANA lounges in NRT 2........ |

Check first at SQ site The SQ lounge opens at 3:15PM, IIRC. They stay open until the flight to SIN is ready to take off (SQ 11, around 7:00PM). Everything else is as Gru1K describes. Really cosy and quiet. Decent selection of wines (champagne too, sorry I didn't try that) and food. |
Moving around airside?
Thanks for the replies. Once airside, can I move between the terminal (like in BKK) This way I can try the different lounges?
Thanks |
Yes but only within the same terminal unless you have a ticket or BP for the other terminal. Unlike BKK the 2 terminals are not connected airside (for transfers there is an airside bus).
OTOH the distance between UA gates and SQ makes it feel like it is another terminal. |

It is good to post hard information. And in this case it does not get harder than that! As I said, I enter the lounge around 3:15PM when it is officially closed. But this is something you cannot count upon! |

And, yes, the sign at the door are still what you quoted. But the reality is different to accomodate that SQ995 early am to BKK. |
Anyone at T" NRT today
Anyone in T2 at NRT until lunchtime and fancy a mini FT do? :)
|
Open all night?
After the 02 June cutover, will any *A lounges at NRT be open all night? Any slumber rooms?

Plenty of airport hotels nearby, going for around JPY7,000 per night - just go to one of the Airport Hotel counters after you leave the customs. They seem pretty basic but functional - after all, what more do you need on a 1 night layover than a bed, shower and somewhere for breakfast?

as this thread is quite old, are there any updates on best lounge options at NRT? I'm flying NZ C out and have *G also.

Unless you're travelling in F, you have the choice between the ANA Business Lounge and the UA Red Carpet Club. From my experience, the ANA lounges are nicer overall, but since you can go to both lounges, it's an idea to try both and see for yourself. The UA RCC has nice views of the runway. |

There is also *A lounge just as in LHR
It's either the ANA lounge (which most other Star airlines use, but it's still operated by ANA with ANA staff), or the UA lounge. |

NZ is still in T2 at NRT, so no access to NH lounges or RCC. NZ uses the QF Lounge in T2.

Anyone know why? Is it to do with some codeshare arrangement?

I've got a lounge related question, and since this thread popped, I'll ask here rather than start another one.
I'm going to be going through NRT. I have a long layover (like 14 hours on purpose). Upon arriving, I'd like to go through security for connecting passengers, use the showers, then I'd like to go back to immigration and enter Japan for a few hours. I should know the answer to this, but is it possible to get back to immigration once you've cleared transit security and are in the "departure" area? Seem like i did this in the long past, but can't remember the steps... Billy |

Should be arriving and departing Terminal 1.
Answer from other thread: go back to transfer security, explain you want to go to Tokyo for the day. I'll take my bag with me and leave in Tokyo station. Billy |
