Which C Germany to Australia
Which C would you recommend from Germany to Australia, when seat comfort is the most important issue.
|
Where in Australia are you going? PER is the length of europe away from the east coast (SYD/MEL/BNE).
SQ has spacebeds (lie flat on a slight angle) FRA-SIN and SIN-SYD. |
SQ for sure. (Given that the other choices to Aus from Europe are TG or OS).
You could also consider flying new C class on LH metal till SIN and then connect to SQ. P.S.: Ensure you check carefully which SQ flights you take from SIN-Australia. IIRC all the SYD flights have spacebeds, but only one of the MEL flights does. If you choose a 744 operated flight you'll always be safe though! |
If considering the new LH C product to SIN, be aware that:
(a) they are having a lot of trouble with their new IFE system (I had two flights earlier this month: SFO-MUC video wouldn't work on entire plane; FRA-SIN video programing was all screwed up [ same films on different channels, not what was listed]) (b) Not all aircraft with the new C have the same features. The FRA-SIN leg on the 744 did not have Video-on-demand While I found the new seats comfortable and slept well on them I don't think these seats will prove to be very reliable as time goes on. The controls are quite delicate and seem prone to malfunction - making it difficult to adjust the seat in the way you want. Found the service and food quite good however. Odd thing: the amenity kit didn't include ear plugs. Also the headphones were not those shown in the glossy brochure and did not seem to be noise-reducing headphones: no button on the left earpiece as claimed in the brochure. That said I was even more disappointed with SQ's Y product to BNE when I found it too did not have VoD :( I thought it was standard for them. |
Which seat is better SQ's spacebed or LH's new C. Another option would probably be ANA to Japan, or LH to HKG and then NZ, what about these option.
Again main priority is the seat comfort. |
If seat comfort is your first priority, go for SQ's Space Beds.

There are no *A flights between Japan and Australia. Would need to go via ICN, BKK, SIN or AKL.

Old seat has only traditional IFE with rather small screen. Connections from LH's flights from MUC and FRA into HKG do not work out to well with the departure of NZ 86 at 19:15. Overall SQ connecting in SIN seems the best option. |

So, there is really no way to try NHs F cabin on an OZ-Europe award even if you route via AKL or another city in Asia? I heard so many great reports on NHs F cabin, so I wouldn't mind some creative itineraries just to give it a try :D

And since you are a LH SEN using M&M you could have a Europe-Far East award like for eg.: LHR-NRT LHR-NRT/x-HKG LHR-NRT/x-ICN LHR-NRT/x-Mainland China Going anywhere else from NRT i.e. say SE Asia would involve a three region award. From OZ: you would need two separate awards. A three region award for: SYD-SIN/x-NRT and another award for NRT-Europe. And P.S.: I flew the new NH F a few months ago and it was outstanding. Makes SQ/CX/LH/BA look quite mediocre! |
