SQ, of course, would be the best choice if you have the funds.

And since you are a LH SEN using M&M you could have a Europe-Far East award like for eg.:
LHR-NRT
LHR-NRT/x-HKG
LHR-NRT/x-ICN
LHR-NRT/x-Mainland China

Going anywhere else from NRT i.e. say SE Asia would involve a three region award.

From OZ: you would need two separate awards. A three region award for: SYD-SIN/x-NRT and another award for NRT-Europe.

And P.S.: I flew the new NH F a few months ago and it was outstanding. Makes SQ/CX/LH/BA look quite mediocre!

How about using UA miles? I know they are not that strict and do not have such a thing as a 3-region award. Could we do Syd-Sin/x-NRT-FRA all on one award? I think it's 150k in F...probably wouldn't use LH miles anyways as they charge far too much for F awards.

OZ and 3region have the same mileage.

FRA-NRT-AKL should work.
AKL-NRT-FRA NZ90 flies NRT-AKL

Lauda uses 767/777 equipment on its longhaul routes.

Definitely, I didn't find the seat NH particularly comfortable.

The Spacebed is far from perfect but much more comfortable than the new C seat on NH imho.

And how do the spacebed and LH's new C compare sleepwise?

inhiyu66 Jul 25, 2005 11:54 pm

I do not remember much about spacebed, 'cos I slept most of the time during my flight from SIN to FRA

Spacebed is much better than LH's new C in my opinion.

It would work if you were looking for a C award. However Sydfly wants a F award. And NRT-AKL would have no F class. (NZ 90 is a 763.) So you would be "wasting" miles if you bought a F award from FRA-AKL via NRT.

Definately go for SQ

Spacebed is wider than LH new C. Tried both and would always prefer SQ SpaceBed over LH's new C seat. Feels roomier IMHO. LH new C is quite good though in comparison to what was offered previously. Have not tried NH new C.

Cheers ...

Well I have taken that route already on SQ with their spacebeds and F-Class.

they offer excellent connection. Take SQ 26 FRA-SIN, departs FRA about noon brings you in SIN around 7 am in the morning and you get a connection to SYD at around 9h40 am which brings you in the evening to SYD great connection, great flight.

Otherwise if you are looking for change, take LH to SIN and from there you take SQ, be sure to get to SQ on of LH flights with new Business class, otherwise go SQ all the way with regard to comfort. You also have a possibility to fly via Vienna with Austrian Airlines, but they use Lauda Air to SYD and their business class compared to Austrian isn't that great.

If I weigh all the options take SQ all the way

I have flown Lauda between VIE and MEL/SYD in C. The cabin is ok, not as good as mainline OS, I would say on par with old LH C. There definitely are better C cabins on that route.

UA does have a "most direct routing" rule, and they have been much stricter in enforcing it of late. I think you'd be hard pressed to convince an agent that -SIN-NRT-FRA is more direct than -SIN-FRA or even -SIN-BKK-FRA.

And yes, it would be 150k miles for F.

What about NZ new C from LHR-AKL?
