Help me please.
1) Ticket was sold by BKK agent.
2) Issued by SK on SK stock in BKK.
3) Travel commences later this month on SK in ARN.
I need to change a flight from SFO-NRT on UA.
What is the best way to do this.
1) Via my agent in BKK now? I need a sticker though.
2) With SK after check-in at ARN and the trip has "commenced."
3) With UA? When where?
Can someone please help by outlining the process for making a simple date change to a RTW. Routing and carrier should remain the same. No re-issue should be necessary.
Thanks for your urgent response.

You can make the change either through SK or UA, though UA may be slightly easier.
My experience is that you do not need to sticker the ticket before showing up at SFO. Only need for reissue is if there's a routing change.

But...
1) If travel has not commenced, is not my TA the one in charge of the booking? Doesn't she need to be the one that changes it at this point?
2) If she changes it tomorrow, can I get a sticker at ARN from SK so there are absolutely no issues at SFO with UA?
Thanks,
Scho

I've often changed dates on a CRWSTAR ticket after travel has commenced. I can't recall having had any problems doing so. I don't recall ever having tried to change a date before travel has commenced.

I did lots of date changes by just calling the airline or the TA - anybody who has access to your PNR.
And you don't need a sticker. As long as your reservation is changed you have your seat. Sometimes the airline sends you to the ticket counter to change the date on the ticket, sometimes they just accept the coupon with the different date. Never figured out when they require what.
But doint this at the airport is easy and fast.
So don't worry about stickers. Never had one before i went to the airport and never had a problem - i usually have a few date changes on my RTW's and i am doing around 3 a year.

Many concepts of record ownership seems to have changed recently, at least with regard to *A RTWs. It seems that any *A airline can access your entire RTW record, and they can make changes at least to their own segments. So, in schoflyer's situation, UA has access to his record (probably having to use a flight number and date rather than PNR) whether the trip has commenced or not, and UA can make changes to the date/time of any segment on UA. And any changes that UA makes will be visible to each of the other *A carriers if they subsequently pull up your record. This really has simplified the whole process (though it may also have closed a loophole or two as well).

My RTW had several 'open segments' and I had NO problems calling the booking agent and making reservations and was also advised that I can call the airline directly to do the same, if need be. I have also made several 'date' changes and there is NO problem whatsoever, as long as seats are available in the class of service for your RTW..
