I'm *G on TG and NZ but have a flight coming up on Airasia, so no lounge access for me. Is the LT Lounge a paid lounge and if so, do you reckon it's worth it?

Yes LT is paid.

Some airlines allow some elites access to their lounges (own operated ones plus few others) even when flying other carrier.

Eg QF Platinum, LH Senator, SQ PPS.

Is that valid with all Citibank gold and Platinum crdeit cards? Can't seem to find any info on it on their website.

Yes, I think its 650 baht for 2 hours. Not really all that worth it. You can also get in with a Priority Pass.

AFAIK, its only valid with Citibank Gold/Plat cards issued in Asia. Not valid with co-branded cards like the Citibank Cathay Pacific Gold card.

Yeah, yeah, rub it in Kiwi Flyer ;)

Im sure the Citibank Platinum Visas issued in Thailand allow access (Im looking at the benefits book)....I think that Citibank Platinum Visas issued in other areas of Asia (like HK or Singapore) allow access.....

Im pretty sure that other Citibank Platinum Visas do not allow access because I asked the lounge attendants last week....but they might be wrong....

I don't have one issued in Asia, unless Australia is now considered as part of Asia.

well, visaplatinum.com lumps Australia (and New Zealand) into the "Asia Pacific" region so Visa Plats cards issued in "Asia Pacific" might uniformly enjoy lounge access :) next time you're in BKK why dont you try? You might be pleasantly surprised.

Just flown F from BKK I was slightly surprised that Thai let us into their superb F lounge. Despite being full in F we were the only people in it. Not surprising I suppose given the number to choose from.

I believe that if you fly First Class on a Star Alliance airline, you are entitled to access to any Star Alliance First Class lounge.... ;)

Star Alliance website quote:
"Lounge Access
International First Class
Customers who present an International First Class boarding pass, regardless of the Star Alliance carrier they fly, have lounge access. They, and one guest, are welcome to visit first class lounges or any other members' departure lounges when departing on a Star Alliance flight. Note: AC, BD, OS and SK do not have international first class service."

The LH lounge at BKK is classified as a Business lounge, not a Senator lounge, so you may not get access there if you don't have a non *A flight. If you're flying Bangkok Airways, they have their own lounge for all passengers.

Oh dear. Just got chapter and verse from the nice lady on the M&M help-desk. Seems Thai are not being Star-friendly and routinely refuse lounge entry to LH Senator's with TG Y-class boarding cards.

Still, even she didn't seem that clear about what access rights exist - we agreed the best way is to try .....

Never heard of that happening...I was in the TG lounge near gate 31 last week and there was a SEN travelling in SQ Y who was also in there.

I guess the only time they could refuse access to a SEN is if the lounge was packed (unlikely) or if they don't have their SEN/*G card with them - the TG system does not automatically pick up *G status from other Star FFPs and this sometimes does not show on their boarding passes.

An end to lounge-hopping?

I have found that my *G card will always get me in to the TG lounges, as long as I'm flying out on a *A flight.

On a separate but related topic: I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but, when passing through BKK a couple of weeks ago, the staff at the TG lounge near Gate 51 stamped my boarding pass and that of my guest, so that it was clear that we had already entered a lounge.

I've never seen this before. I wonder if it's a new measure to prevent lounge-hopping?

What *G card were you using?

I've been at both the lounges at Gate 51 and 31 in the last couple of weeks and they didn't stamp my boarding pass, although they did write down my SQ *G card number on some book behind the counter, but they've always been doing that.

Fliar Nov 4, 2004 2:23 am

Stamp or not - you are still entitled to access as many lounges as you please as a *G, unless the current Staralliance rules are changed.
