Wonderful compilation!

kempis Apr 20, 2004 10:44 am

For SK you can add S between Y and M. Personally I have never seen O on SK. Nice job.

LH738 Apr 20, 2004 11:29 am

^ ^ ^ excellent

Also L can be added to the end of the list. These are deeply discounted promotional fares!

schoflyer Apr 20, 2004 1:04 pm

Thanks. Actually saved me a call tonight to ANA. :D

Kiwi Flyer Apr 20, 2004 1:10 pm

Thanks Patron ^ ^ ^

peter42 Apr 20, 2004 3:19 pm

With Lufthansa you left K,L,T and G out in Eco and Z is Business only AFAIK.
R.N and E is employee travel.

Football Fan Apr 20, 2004 4:41 pm

Thanks! :) ^

Thanks for the positive response, folks!

I opened this thread on continuous special requests from some fellow flyertalker within the last half year.

I see the strength in this compilation to know about the quality of a specific booking class, especially for mileage/voucher redemption purposes. The weakness, that this list is already outdated. My source is the latest printed addition of the *A product & service guide I have access to (unfortunately - as peter42 pointed out - there are typing errors). If I gain access to an updated edition, I will edit the opener, but as the system is so volatile and there are individual exceptions all the time, I stick to this product.

IMO for individual needs on specific flights the best source available for the general public I know is this availability tool.

Many thanks for this...you've saved me a lot of time on my upcoming beach holiday!

Thank you, it looks great!

RichardMEL Apr 23, 2004 10:51 am

Keep it in view

I think this should be made a sticky thread :)

Rudi Apr 23, 2004 11:25 am

Danke Patron.

Moderators (= Patron) please make this a sticky thread

AntonS Apr 24, 2004 12:49 am

Great info, Patron. Thank you!
One comment. I just booked LOT Polish business class award using United miles and my ticket shows booking class I, not Z.

Savage25 Apr 24, 2004 1:43 am

Adding to the list of thanks! ^

Adding to the list of booking classes: "S" class for bookings on Executive Economy (SIN-EWR and SIN-LAX nonstops) for SQ

skye Apr 24, 2004 3:10 am

Great list, but what about cathay pacific? :)

GeneCMH Apr 24, 2004 8:45 am

Great Thread

I vote for it being made a sticky too ^

Would it be possible to add the US codes to the list as well, as they're officially joining on May 4th?

Kiwi Flyer Apr 24, 2004 1:32 pm

Another vote for sticky

BlondeBomber Apr 24, 2004 3:34 pm

Thanks--another reason I love FT! ^

Almschi Apr 24, 2004 3:38 pm

Vielen Dank Patron!
Eine wunderbare Übersicht. Man könnte noch die ganzen Kombi-Tarife z.B. bei Lufthansa ergänzen ;-)
LH Y* G K L T (Y* nicht zu verwechseln mit dem regulären Y!)

English: (not so good!)
Thanks Patron!
a great view. There a some spezial LH Bookingsclasses.

Same here with LH. I did an upgrade for me and an award ticket for Frau D. Both showed up as I.

Andrew Yiu Apr 26, 2004 7:34 pm

LOT realigned their booking class recently. (The codes for LOT in Patron's original post are LOT's original booking codes)

So award business class on LO will be I and X for economy class. (No First class).

ThWilmesi May 4, 2004 11:15 am

Greay post, it helped understand me one of my current issued flight tickets with ANA ;) ^ :)

Gnopps May 4, 2004 11:39 am

I believe Spanair has Z as their discount business-class.

Enhancement

Hi,

Thanks for the great compilation.

Will be a bonus if we can highlight the booking classes which *A members will not be able to earn/accrue mileage points (e.g. on SIA - "Q" class)

Great work though!

Nice idea, but would make for a messy table as they can vary by FFP which is being credited (or not in this case if you get what I mean!). Perhaps highlight only those which dont earn mileage for any *A FFP?

MikeLaw May 10, 2004 11:56 am

Here's the US codes for you:

F A - first (domestic only) E/O/P used for upgraders/awards
C D Z - business (international) I/R used for upgraders/awards
GHKLMNQSTUVWXY - coach

Kiwi Flyer May 10, 2004 1:06 pm

Thanks mikelaw

Can you (or someone) please rank the codes from full fare to most heavily discounted within the classes?

Cheers

MikeLaw May 11, 2004 2:32 pm

I have but a few moments before I have to leave the lounge, but you can see the full list here. The whole thread has a few other tidbits.

cesco.g May 20, 2004 11:50 am

UA award codes

'R' First Class - free ticket using miles
'X' First Class UPGRADE from Business
'O' Business Class - free ticket using miles
'I' Business Class UPGRADE from Economy
'N' Economy Class - free ticket using miles
'E' Economy Class free ticket (special inventory for 1Ks )

cslusarc May 31, 2004 12:27 am

Will AC harmonize its booking classes with the rest of the alliance?

Please correct the order of booking classes:

Air Canada (AC)
BC: J C D S
EC: [freedom]Y [latitude] M U A [econo] B H V Q L W
EC: [fun*] R I G [tango*] E N P T [other] K X Z
*available online only

mahasamatman Jun 17, 2004 3:28 pm

Discounted Business Class on UA is a Z fare.

jumbo Aug 11, 2004 10:23 am

I have an LH award all booked in (I) with just one segment on SQ
when I view my list of flights on LH website, it shows them all as "business class I" except the SQ flight which says, "business class flexible I"

Anyone know why the word flexible should be in there? I did ask the senator hotline but they didn't seem to know, but they did confirm it would be in business class.

Rudi Aug 11, 2004 10:39 am

my jan-2004 award flight in First on SQ ZRH-SIN-MEL, 'paid' with LH miles, issued by LH FRA, showed as confirmation and on the ticket only eco-class - but when I enquired at SQ in ZRH before the flights, they said that it's allright (in F) and confirmed my preferred seats than.

It worked out as promised.

jumbo Aug 11, 2004 1:13 pm

Thanks Rudi,
I was concerned about it, as it's damn difficult to put things right when your the other side of the world...i'm still surprised LH didn't have a complete explanation for the "flexible" wording part??

Booking Codes for RTWs

Does anyone know if there are special booking codes for RTW flights?
Also, if RTW flights (in Y) count as "full" or "discounted" when it comes to miles?
Thanks!

depends of the Frequent Flier program you use, the flight carriers and if it is a Star-rtw-'light' ticket, with some program also if it is an international/or a national flight-segment, etc. etc.

schoflyer Sep 3, 2004 4:46 pm

I know that ANA does a "special" BC in Z class.
