Star Alliance need to add a higher elite level
 
Like the title says, Star Alliance needs to review its duo level elite structure. Currently the highest elites among Star Alliance airlines can only enjoy the top treatment within their own airline mileage program. I think Star alliance should at least adopt One World’s three tier elite levels.

What do you think would be gained by this? It would likely mean less benefits for mid-tier elites, rather than more benefits for top-tier.

So where would UA 1Ks fall in this new SA Elite Status ????

There is a lot of discussions about this in the Star Alliance Forum. My only questions is, where would UA 1Ks land in the proposed new Star Alliance Elite Program ? There seems to be a lot of whining about *Gs not being able to check bags or select seats on the super cheap"Basic" fares at LH or on most any fare at TAP. My thinking, if you want to select seats or check bags, lay off the "Basic" fares. ...and also the other Cardinal Rule: If you want to fly in Premium Cabins, book Premium Cabins !!

I'd think that 1K & GS would be in the top tier of 3 level Star Alliance structure. You are right though, these days it's "what you pay is what you get".

As another poster posted upthread ("What do you think would be gained by this?") I think Star Alliance members have a lot to gain by cutting benefits that they have to provide to other *A member airlines. In Reality, its more of the same that has been going on since 2013
