RTW ex Cairo

Can anyone recommend a travel agent in Cairo for Star RTW ticket? Any idea on the current fares for economy? This is my first RTW trip. Thanks.

on the top of this page, on the right side, there is a search button: enter Cairo and you will find some very usefull informations from former posts.

Enjoy the planning and ... welcome to FlyerTalk.

Welcome to Flyertalk Malou.

My advice to you is to find a travel agent in Canada who is experienced with RTW issues. (Imperial Travel Consultants in Montreal for example). That way you can arrive in Cairo with your RTW already in hand. I just started a RTW from CAI last month doing just this and I'm really glad that I did so because the LH agents in CAI are not too adept at issuing them since a RTW is a fairly complicated transaction. From what I understand, OS isn't much better and SQ won't issue it to you unless your first segment is on them. Furthermore, the LH office at the airport closes at 16:30 and most of the flights arrive at or after that time.
Canada is the only country that can issue an ex-CAI RTW at ex-CAI prices. However, this doesn't mean that you can start from Canada- you still have to originate from Cairo. Hope that helps.

I have a good experience with LH Cairo. Prepare everything by Email before and stay 1 hour with the agent in the city office to issue the ticket manualy.

Or use tcswede's German TA and pick up your ticket at CAI airport.
Worked for me.

Thanks for The heads up cathaana, are you still on your trip or have you returned ?
Hope that you had a good time.

Just to add that for SQ stock, my TA can also issue the ticket in Germany - and the first leg does not need to be on SQ - admitting though that the short leg to DXB is quite nice - ate least in F - and if you have miles to spare you will still be in Germany the next morning with the night connection on LH from DXB as you would be flying back during the night from CAI to Germany - and for that a longer night.

Cheers

Around the world in 17 days (in November). http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
It was great and I am already planning the next.
So you did CAI-DXB-FRA on SQ and then onwards?

I contacted Imperial Travel Consultants in Montreal,Canada and boy they want premium service charge of US$300 on Star Alliance tickets ex CAI and a service charge of US$500 for the KLM Passport of the World RTW tickets for the same ex CAI. Pretty steep is it not?Any other agents doing RTW ex CAI,or do we go directly to the Airlines?

Maybe you should consider the following:
There is no comission on the RTW ex CAI. The TA in CANADA or elsewhere for that matter normally needs to pay his counterpart in Egypt a commision for the issuing of ticket - and bear in mind that a handwritten 28 Sector ticket is some work. So the US $ 300 on a ticket which costs 4 to 5K US $ is not really that much for the work involved when comparing what a TA would normally get as a comission and here there are generally two to share it.

Glad you had a good trip, when do you leave next - the fares are still low ?

I did CAI-DXB on SQ and then to FRA on LH - I like a few days in DXB - some relaxing and sun - especially considering the weather right now.

i like the CAI-DXB-FRA idea, it is much better than going back to FRA directly and one can enjoy SQ service a bit http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
tcswede thanks for the inspiration http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Hi Uli,
just remember that SQ only flies Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Looking at CAI as a starting point you will depart in the afternoon and then have a few hrs to kill in DXB before the flight to FRA - and arrive the same time as you would directly from CAI for the same night. As a bonus 6 hrs in F on LH instead of 3 - 4 from CAI. And as you said a little bit of SQ http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Cheers

Still in the planning stage. As far as I know, the prices are still the same, so with the better exchange rate the ticket should be even cheaper than before.
I really need to check the DXB connection. Never been there before. They seem to have some nice hotels.
