No problem at the LAX RCC this morning on a domestic flight and an LH Senator M&M card.

This sucks... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsdown.gif lets hope the enforcement is as lax as the service in the UA cabins... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

Years...and years...and years...at least they look like that http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif. |
On June 17th I had no problem getting into the LAX RCC. What surprised me though, was that the attendant didn't write down my SAS EuroBonus number. If UA expects to get any money from SAS I'm sure they need to keep a log like every other * carrier.

I entered a variety of domestic RCCs over the last week on at least 8 occasions using my SEN card. No one ever asked to see a boarding pass.

same experience here. I am sitting in an RCC in DCA -- got in with only my AC SE card.

I got the "official" word back from the RCC today:
Dear BrisbanePE, Thank you for your reply. Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding to your question again. We have received word from our Star Alliance contact that all Star Alliance Gold card holders must be departing on an international ticket on United or another Star Alliance partner in order to have access to the lounge. Fees, amenities, services, Club hours, locations, reciprocal and Star Alliance agreements may change anytime with or without written notice. Once again, we appreciate the opportunity to respond and do thank you for choosing United. Best Regards, Peter White Red Carpet Club [This message has been edited by BrisbanePE (edited 06-24-2003).] |
Hey, Mrs. Fredd and I just joined the RCC during a recent semi-MR to the midwest. We're flying out of YVR next week and won't have to worry about the difference between "foreign" and "intra-border" flights as we knock back our beverages in the MLL.
Can't justify the membership since we already have access on International flights as *G, but we have miles coming out of our ears, and we now expect the lounges to keep the riff-raff out, as Basil Fawlty would say. Nothing personal folks... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif |
sometimes it works to our advantage, that UA isn't very good and fast to introduce/teach changements of rules ...
|
Interesting in the response above it states departing on an international flight where as the original posting said the hold a same day international ticket.
If the rules were inforced this could add further confusion |
I must admit, I'm a tad confused about the entire thread, as I always thought the rules were "entry with presentation of boarding passes for international segments on the same day of travel", as it is for all the other lounges.
Did UA allow any *G's entry to RCC's regardless of itineraries in the past and are now coming into line with the rest of them? It's not something I've kept up with as AN's GW club members had the reciprocal access to the RCC's on presentation of the GW card regardless of itinerary, so it was never an issue. |
so far, all StarGold members (except UA's own PremierExecutive/1K) had access to all Star-lounges when presenting a same day boarding pass with that carrier (even acess to RCC with an inner North American same day UA boarding pass).
UA changing that rule for inner NorthAmerican flights now, should 'force' all other StarAlliance carriers to also forbid lounge entry for UA-Gold-members, when only holding a boarding pass for an inner country (or even inner continent) boarding pass. |
United Airlines is kind of going on my nerves. I redeemed a Star Alliance business class award ord-mex-hav//mex-sat-ord and all segments except sat-ord are on MX. Now, UA has these 2-class flights and they happen to call their business class first class for some odd reason. That's good for mileage-earning, but now I have to fly coach SAT-ORD, otherwise I would have to get a first class award! This doesn't make any sense...and apparently (this is what LH told me), until June 1, people were put in first on UA in these situations, but they now changed it.
So if UA thinks their way to survival is to cut back on their involvement in and commitment to Star Alliance on all levels, they are WRONG! Next thing will probably be that they will not let paying Star RTW business customers fly in F anymore, but only in coach. |
