Empress - You could ask about overseas delivery of the ticket - I have never heard of regulations limiting these tickets to Australian residents.
A hurdle would be convincing the travel agent to go through the extra hassle of sending o/s via DHL or similar - I'm sure you could offer an extra AUD50 for the trouble and still come out ahead. I purchased my Star Lite RTW from travel.com.au using a US issued Citibank AAdvantage Mastercard - they had no trouble with a foreign card. |
Date change: no fee for change (but sometimes I had to pay additional taxes if taxes were increased)
Route change: fee necessary |

*-rtw-rules for tickets bought (and starting) in Europe (includes rebokings, itinerary changements, cancelling).
But be aware, rules differ in other continents. [This message has been edited by Rudi (edited 12-12-2001).] |
I saw on SQ's website that you can upgrade on all fares except V,Q,G,N using KF points.
aussieinsf: travel.com.au told me they will have no problem sending me the tickets. They told me i have to send them a copy of my credit card and driver's license. I am really not that comfortable sending that by mail or anything. Do you think it's better i just spend a day in SYD to pick up the tickets before starting that trip? |
Hi Empress.. if you're not comfortable doing it that way (I don't blame you) then for sure you can drop in to their office in SYD to get the stuff ticketed. However I don't actually know if *they* ticket or get it from a consolidator, which would increase the time taken for it.
btw the prices still seem to be at the old levels from what I can see (thank god). ------------------ RichardMEL, UA 1K A Star Alliance Member. |
I had a great experience w/travel.com.au--had booked SYD-SIN-Seoul (actually ICN, 3 days after it opened) on SQ in biz. Pretty good fare (about $1000 USD). Had done it all over the internet.
Was in SYD on vacation, planned on needing the morning to get this ticket, but hit their office at 0910, was out by 0920 (had already been ticketed--just had to sign my name) and was on my way for the rest of the day. Good experience all around. JL |
I wouldn't be too worried about mailing the info they requested. I don't think they can do anything with it except sell you a ticket.
But if you've got time to pick up the ticket in SYD, it might be fun to meet them! andrew |
