using the DB train on a LH flight number gives you the usual status miles (2000 in bus + exec. bonus).
currently, there is also an AIRail promotion running ("flying" STR <-> FRA by train), giving you an extra 6000 bonus miles per leg in C http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Rudi, I think your are right in respect to a RTW: DB train is a (non-* A) codeshare partner and therefore probably is not eglible.

H class (* RTW lite) is indeed upgradeable on UA. The "sectors may not be upgraded to a higher class of service" deal relates to _paid_ upgrade(ie: $). upgrading segements with UA miles or certs (or e-upgrades, whatever) works just fine. UA won't bat an eyelid. An H class seat is an H class seat. So yes it is possible.

I got 24 segments on my last RTW. I think Rudi may beat this on his September trip?

Rudi:

Can't you do SFO-HNL or SFO-LIH with a stopover, and then HNL-NRT? That would give you one more segment.

no - such a stop would then put me over the 29'000 miles limit ...

bernie Jul 24, 2001 4:14 am

... and this routing would it make difficult to get F cxns. There is a lot of caoch / biz flts. on those flts. - but very few offering F as well. So ... no triple miles, dbl. miles only.

What happens to the luggage?

Rudi posted the following legs:
COS-DEN 0755-0837
DEN-ASE 1010-1050
ASE-DEN 1525-1605
DEN-SFO 1645-1825

1.) Is it possible to check in the luggage for the complete routing (there could even be more legs than in the example above) so you can pick it up in SFO?
2.) The ground time in DEN for the last leg DEN-SFO is very short. No problem for the luggage to arrive in SFO with you?

Rudi Aug 4, 2001 1:58 pm

the lugagge will probably not make the DEN-ASE-DEN detour but go directly (waiting in Denver) with my flights COS-DEN-SFO.

Rudi Aug 4, 2001 1:59 pm

chances are anyway more than 50% that I will only have carry-on luggage on this rtw trip.
