this is what it became
Well, took a while, thanks for the input...the fun is to try to get what you want, while it is not always to be booked.
Ams-FRA Lufthansa Business FRA-SIN SQ first suite in the A380 Sin-Tokyo on ANA Business 787 Tokyo- San Francisco on 747 UA Business (never had a 747 on the upper deck ) ( once for an hour KLM, but my wife wanted to sit downstairs, I still blame her) SFO to Calgary on a United CCR7 First ) Calgary to Frankurt Air Canada A330 First Flexibele ( have to change seats 1A, I do not think thats is a nice one ) Frankfurt -Amsterdam Lufthansa Business Stopover in Frankfort the first night, hate to miss the A380 due a delay, Singapore and SFO for a day, time in Tokyo is about 10 hours stopover, lets see how we fill that. Suggestions welcome, never been there. All my basis needs have been satisfied, 380 first suite, 787 ANA and the 747 upper deck and what I read about Air Canada, have to try these too will be the weekend of march 21...all confirmed, ready to go...first still a lot of UA flight over the Atlantic In will post a report when it will be the time...I will love the food, very curious to that part. No driving, so lets have a taste of wine on all flights. |

You would be paying for F for every other flight, but only receiving C. Very curious as to what you are paying for this, whether in points or in cash?? |
all in reward.
I used 91250 silverkris awards from SQ with payment of around 200 euro for taxes, I got them from AMEX, not flow SQ in 30/40 years ;), believe it was still MSA at that time! as a kit. This for FRA SIN route The I used 60.000 United Miles and 57 US ( around ) for SIN SFO..still will try to get for 20.000 more Fist, but no saver was there at this point then 50.000 and a few buck for SFO tot Amsterdam, I loved to try Air Canada, only other route was by Houston, but I can dream the beef on that route ;) Ams fra still to be booked, will cost 20.000 miles and 44 US, but still in doubt, always space, so no hurry. But would love also the evening before the speed train or just pay a return ticker KLM door 150US in eco and leave the return. was a long preparation, since some how all routes over the atlantic on saver awards are rare! I am afraid Star All. will do the same as Delta and increase the needed mileage soon, and people know that..;) |

The train is your cheapest option by far..... and it might be a welcome change :-).
I agree ;) But I haven't flown KLM for 15 years, I think it will be a good lesson to know why I don;t fly them anymore..as a reminder |
Everything you hear is true..... Take the train :-).
Oh well, what harm can they do on a flight that's about an hour long.... it's just that their business class is lousy, their frequent flyer program is the worst and that sometimes their FA are stuck-up .....es. And sometimes they are great :-). |

You do know that starting your RTW in ICN is considerable cheaper than it is in NYC. Using some miles to get there might save you money, and with a stopover in SFO you could even see your family on both directions :-).
Or look at buying some US Airways miles now the promo is running and make it a US-EU-ICN trip with a stopover (and maybe some additional low cost tickets to the other destinations). Your RTW includes only major airports so an RTW might not be the best deal, unless you need the flexibility it provides. Or even combine the two :-). Thanks! |
Not a lot of detail is needed.... the price that you pay for an RTW is also determined by the country you start your RTW. You pay a fixed amount in a local currency so the rates will differ from country to country.
South Korea and Japan are commonly the least expensive countries to start. Just like some countries in Africa. And probably the sinking INR will also make it a good deal to start there at this time. You can easily see the rates when you use the *A book and fly tool. Just make a dummy routing starting from different countries..... You also need to position yourself there, but that's a different subject. |
Starting in India is getting cheaper now too due to the fall or the currency.
