Lounge access
I am UA Gold. On United's website I read the following:
United and US Airways Star Alliance Gold members may access any United Club or US Airways Club only when holding a boarding pass for a same-day international Star Alliance member flight. United Star Alliance Gold members may access other Star Alliance member lounges before any departure on a Star Alliance member airline flight. Does this mean that if I have a domestic ticket on UA say SFO-LAX, I will NOT be allowed to use the UA Club in SFO, but I WILL be allowed to use any other *A lounge such as the SilverKris lounge? That sounds counterintuitive. |
Lounge access
I called UA MP asking the same question. My Presidential Plus Card was charged $395 for this access but I was thinking Golds got in to domestic access. Apparently not...only when traveling internationally do Gold's get access to the Lounge.

Lounge access
Complimentary access only with international itenary as *G
You can try accessing their lounge but I doubt if they would allow you on a domestic trip I personally like kris flyer lounge in Singapore and I never heard that they have one here...good to know! |
Even Star Alliance own website says the same thing, as per below. Note how the international flight is only mentioned together with United/US clubs. We now have two sources which to me both quite clearly state that non-UA/US clubs can be accessed with domestic tickets.
http://www.staralliance.com/en/benef...access-policy/ Star Alliance Gold Customers Travelling in Any Class: Customers have access to any Star Alliance member carriers' owned lounges with the Star Alliance Gold logo at the entrance.

For example in BKK, at the old airport, they had TG and LH Lounges - i used the LH Lounge frequently, even on Domestic TG flights Similar in NRT |

To make matters even less intuitive, if I was Gold on some other airline than UA/US, such as Aegean, all of sudden I would have access to UA/US Clubs when flying domestically in the US (as per the rules above). So members of their own mileage programs are at a disadvantage!?

That's correct, but for sure SQ had set up a rule not to allow anyone flying UA domestically to use its lounge, as in the past tons of UA flyers flood SQ lounge in SFO with a domestic boarding pass.
You can however use LH lounge in DTW and IAD with a domestic UA boarding pass though. |

So you're saying it's a rule implemented on a lounge specific basis? Would that be available online somewhere, or you have to call them/show up and see what they say? |
