creating routing to bali

the mrs and i are taking a trip to bali in january. today i put the following itinerary on hold with CO. The goal is to experience as much of good F as possible.

EWR - MUC (LH F A346) - CDG (LH C A321. spending a night in Paris, and going to dinner to our favorite restaurant there) - BKK (TG F on 773. suites!!) - DPS (TG F on 744). 70k per person and $90 in taxes. not bad at all. on the return we are going to use a one way award through AA. DPS - HKG -JFK (CX F).

Even though i dont see any availability at the moment, but would CO allow routing of NYC - SFO - MUC? or any combination using the west coast and places in germany. this way we get more time in the air in LH F.

How is that routing to Bali looking? Can i be any more creative with it? i would also like to experience NH and OZ, but i dont see any availability in F going the other way.

another question is regarding the connection in BKK. we arrive at 6.30am, and the flight to DPS leaves at 8.30am. Will we have enough time for massages in the first class lounge? What about the connection in Munich. can we go to the first class lounge after arrival, or is it only business class (since flight to CDG is C only).

thanks

P.S. Meant to say Creative routing to Bali

You could always go via SIN to DPS for some SQ F. I'm taking this route myself the coming January.

i thought SQ only flew the 772 from SIN to DPS. i dont see any bookable F on that route with SQ.

If you want simply start your award on the west coast and book a revenue ticket to get there.

Also Airline Route Mapper shows TG CDG-BKK as 773, not 77W, so maybe it might be the old 777-300A models with no suites.

so does that mean that CO does not allow east coast - west coast - europe routing?

i checked seatguru and thai's 777-300 does not have a first class. so i would hope that any flights with a 773 are the leased jet planes

Note that SocialAdept only mentioned "for some SQ F", so the journey would be mixed F/J (although you're paying for a F award ticket). The SIN-DPS flights are in J.

CDG-BKK is basically guaranteed 77W, with F suites. Plus, they're taking in some more 77Ws from 9W. So no worries.

Yes, both the 773's and 77W's show up as '773'.

Good luck finding 2 SQ F *A award seats JFK-FRA-SIN (read: I wouldn't hold my breath). West Coast-Europe for 2 on award on LH is going to be somewhat more difficult too (transcon flights + longer flight to Europe = more demand for premium class travel). That being said, no harm in looking, since CO allows free routing changes as long as origin and destination stay the same.

Also, OP, TG has been switching planes back and forth DPS-BKK, from 747/744 to 772 to 747/744. Don't be surprised if there isn't F on your DPS plane when you get to BKK, and you get an envelope with compensation instead.

Latest story has it being 744 with F during the time you are travelling, but this is TG- they pulled F on that route with pretty much no notice at one point already, as several posters noted.

I don't think anyone has been talking about JFK-FRA-SIN in F. I proposed going SQ on the routing BKK-SIN-DPS. Granted it's a F/J pairing but it allows for a day in SIN, tasting the SQ F product as well as the excellent Changi lounges.

i am still a bit confused. how are you getting F on the BKK-SIN-DPS route? SQ doesnt show any F class between these city pairs.

Does anyone know if the following route would be allowed (assuming availability)

JFK - FRA -ZRH - NRT - BKK - DPS

this way i get LH, LX, TG first class on one one way ticket.

What miles are you using? Aeroplan to US Airways or what?

US miles are more likely to be flexible.

SQ doesn't fly planes with F cabins on BKK-SIN.

Given that you only get spa privileges in BKK if you depart in TG F, I'd say it's probably not worth trading spa time after a long flight, for a meal in the Private Room in SIN and an extra stop anyway. The OP can order a nice meal in a swank Bali restaurant instead and not notice the difference. :)

Continental
Should be OK.

Unfortunately you seem to be right, I was convinced of the opposite.

Though I must correct you in turn that departing on TG C/J (silk class) will also give access to the Thai spa lounge at BKK.
