Re PHX WN-AA connection: you can connect airside if you don't have checked bags and are willing to risk a missed connection because of problems with the inbound.

Crazy. What are they going to do when the last remaining seat gets sold out from under you before can call for reinstatement?

Does anyone know what time the first batch of flights to Hawaii went live? Any thoughts as to whether Southwest will use the same time to start sales for future routes?

Exactly. Terrible process, if sold out we are out of luck and in this case our booking to and from hnl will be a trip in vain. Even if not sold out, if ticket prices are higher when we call to rebook it is an uphill battle getting them to honor original price. Not to mention if they cancel now, or within T-36 hours of flight, we will lose our benefit of A list auto checkin order.

Here's an idea: reprogram the cancelbot to keep hands off if exactly one of the flights in question connects Hawaii and the mainland. Then take the time to teach the cancelbot better manners.

next we will want other huge changes. like have the cancelbot emails explain WHAT happend and WHY they are doing it. As of today it just generates an identical email to when a customer manually cancels a trip.

If it was me if the flight sold out, I would demand they overbook the plane. Sorry that it may cost them money but I have a valid ticket, not my fault. I'd be as polite as I could but I'd be firm.

That will never happen. It's way too difficult.

Looks to me like the average inter island fare will be $65-$75. At least from HNL-KOA. That is what is showing out in Oct, and seems in line with HAL. I do think that will take $$$ away from HAL, with the 2 free bags....

Looks like Southwest snuck in a schedule change for HNL/OGG on 6 August.

New flight times:
HNL/OGG -> 700AM, 1000AM, 405PM, 700PM (prev 935AM, 125PM, 440PM, 650PM)
OGG/HNL-> 830AM, 1135AM, 220PM, 545PM (prev 800AM, 1150AM, 305PM, 620PM)

Thanks for posting. I'm flying on a different day and checked and sure enough, the time had changed. It was only by 5 minutes so no big deal, but why didn't SWA notify me of the change?

Probably not done changing yet. With the groundings and the new service, they likely expect more changes. Although I wonder how much notice would be enough.

On the 5:30 AM flight from LAX today the pre-flight announcement included the old joke: “Welcome aboard this flight to Oakland and on to Maui”. Except this time is wasn’t a joke. The flight is going to Maui.

This is is a 175 seater with 45 people on board. Hillbilly first class for everyone.
