There's so much buzz right now that Southwest could probably fill the planes at *higher* prices than their competition, even by non-CP holders. Lots of people in my office yesterday who are not frequent travelers would talking about Southwest and Hawaii, one guy even booked a trip. My guess is that the $49's were just there to set the Internet on fire and won't reappear except on the day new routes are loaded into the system.

By later this year, we'll have a better idea of what the new normal looks like between WN, AS, and HA.

To get all the excited talk of sellouts.

Free publicity.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people who didn't get the cheap fares booked and later cancelled. I know I did.

I guessing their revenue management system just isn't used to days like Monday.

Of course with WN there is no change penalty so speculative bookings are not penalized... but I'd rather fly 5 hours in E+ for the same price.
I agree with this argument, until CP enters the picture. I priced out a few trips in the fall-- going during the promo period in the spring didn't work for my schedule-- and found connecting service on WN at about $450 r/t. For $550 I could fly nonstop on UA-- with E+ due to my status. If I was buying one ticket I'd call it a draw. Using CP for two tickets, though, it becomes $455 vs. $1100, well worth adding a connection and forgoing E+.

Appears many people also made multiple duplicate reservations as well in all the excitement thinking they could talk to family and friends later and decide which flight they really wanted. After the auto cancels, all those seats became available again.

Got my auto cancellation 45min ago for Hawaii flights.

Southwest's robot doesn't want us to fly the inaugural 8am HNL-KOA, because it thinks our late night SJC-LAS flight on the same date overlaps. Interestingly, the notes they read us say it did not care about our middle booking -- immediate turn back to HNL connecting to SJC.

Manager says remarks she put on our newly restored reservation will not stop the auto cancellation process from happening every 1-2 days.

I'm seeing elsewhere multiple reports of "legal" to-Hawaii and interisland flights being auto cancelled.

Customer relations took nearly two hours today to go through my booking and get one interisland reinstated. The system kept telling them it overlapped but they could see it didn't.

My wife is on same flights and strangely it didn't flag or cancel hers. The process, in order to cancel me, actually divided me off my wife's PNR to a new PNR.... just to cancel me and my son (companion).

Finally a manager had them add a government travel code to my booking, saying that was the only way to exempt a booking from the auto cancellation process.

I can't ( and would not even if the option was available ) fly WN from MSP to HNL but the inter island flights will definitely work for us. With CP they are extremely cheap..........at least for now

Update 2 days later. The de-dupe process decided to cancel my origin hnl-koa again because it 'conflicted' with my sjc-las. It then cancelled my companion pass booking for my son's sjc-las because...it conflicts with his early morning hnl-koa.

I'm sorry, obviously I don't actually like that. But in another thread, there is discussion of perhaps being able to plot out what flight would be canceled perhaps by current or projected load. Your post makes me wonder if it's legit random.

Sorry you'll have to keep the reinstatement process up. When I had to do it, I settled into a once weekly call for reinstatement. Yours is right around the corner, so you've got a lot of phone calls to make this week... =/

Unfortunately not, they do not have interline agreement with AA. Sorry!
