SWA Major Outage and Service Disruption July 20, 2016 (was: Systemwide Groundstop)
I am unable to log in to my account and others. There are also other major issues right now. All platforms are non-functioning.
Getting you to where you want to go matters to us. However, portions of the Southwest Airlines website are experiencing technical difficulties and are currently unavailable. We are working to make it available again as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please try again later. Southwest Airlines. |
Just got off the phone after waiting for 20 minutes and they cannot do anything either. The entire system is down for at least another hour.
|
Have they installed their new system? Wonder if this is related to that...
|
I don't think it's limited just to their website. I am at the FLL airport now and they are saying their entire system is down. A quick glance at the FIDS shows about half the flights are delayed. What luck....today is my first time flying Southwest in almost 10 years!
|
Completely dead website and app for me. Trying to check in for a flight tomorrow.
|
Can confirm entire system is down. At MCI now and nothing is moving. Flights can only land and park at their destinations.

Second hand reporting on my part, but a customer says all operations nationwide are shutdown due to a system outage?

Man am I glad I decided not to buy Southwest stock this week. I love how you can tell exactly when the system went down by the stock chart!
Here is the statement from their only working website: SWAMedia.com: We are aware and investigating current issues with our systems. We will keep you posted as we have more information to share. Their Twitter is handling it well, actually cracking a few jokes with customers, including one which blamed Pokemon Go! for it!!! |
Yes, systemwide groundstop. Computers down.
|
Here in BHM they have been handwriting boarding passes and have begun to rebook people for flights tomorrow as well.
EDIT: Not really rebook, more like, give us your name and when the system comes back up we will rebook you for tomorrow. |
