SkyTeam to Seychelles?
Is it possible to get to the Seychelles via SkyTeam?
Yes, I have searched. Looking at Orbitz I can see that AF has a codeshare SEZ-CDG with Air Seychelles, so I can only assume that they have one going to the other way. My questions - does anyone know for sure whether or not AF has a roundtrip codeshare with Air Seychelles; and is it possible to book these flights with SkyMiles? Thank you much... |
I believe that to redeem a SkyTeam award the flight needs to be operated by a SkyTeam carrier; not just a flight with a SkyTeam code attached to it. Therefore, the Air Seychelles is probably not eligible for a Delta redemption, but if you had Flying Blue miles it might be.
|
They do have R/T code-share
CDG-SEZ AF952 (operatded by HM7) SEZ-CDG AF953 (operated by HM8) Good luck with redemption! |
I booked an award rtw last week and had no problem getting to the seychelles for Jan 2008. It is on AF metal via Paris
|
Excellent. That is what I was hoping to hear.
Would you share your flight numbers? |
Take me with you!!!!! :D

Update
Last week in an ATL CRC I asked an agent to pull up flights to SEZ. An AF flight was showing up, but it said it was operated by Air Seychelles. The agent said it was probably a code share, thus not open for award flights, but also said it looked somewhat different from regular codeshare so he recommended I contact the intl partner award desk. So, last night i called the partner desk. It is true that AF does not operate any metal to SEZ. They "co-operate" a flight with air seychelles, thus meaning we CAN book award travel. A J award is 140k unless you take Continental TATL and then its 160k. I'll be trying to book two of these in the next few weeks, I'll let you know how it goes..... |
Booking CDG-MRU (Mauritius) as part of my RTW award, both AF metal and AF codeshares on Air Mauritius were available for award booking. At first we booked to codeshare until we realized that we wouldn't really be in J, but rather Premium Economy. We quickly changed to an AF metal flight.
|
I'm heading to SEZ in June/July.
Using NW miles, I booked my flights on NW, PrivatAir (KL, IAH-AMS), then KQ (Kenya Airways) from AMS to NBO and then to SEZ. Unfortunately, this won't help DL, CO members since KQ isn't a partner with those airlines. |

I see now what you refer to. From their website. I remember now decding we could live with 45" since the schedule worked well.

I was looking into booking NBO-MRU on an Air Mauritius flight codeshared with Kenya Airways and they said it could not be booked with Skymiles..how exactly is that different from the Air France/Air Seychelles flight?

The arrangement AF has with HM is revenue sharing where AF actually pays a fixed amount to HM for each flight and gets a number of seats in return to sell. Those seats are eligible for award travel. As an aside, up until last year I went to both Seychelles and Mauritius yearly for business (tourism) and am still quite familiar with a lot. PM me if you have questions about most anything and I should be able to help (esp with the resorts and tourism aspects). |

Successfully booked using skymiles
Air France/Air Seychelles AF0952/ CDG-SEZ Air France/Air Seychelles AF0953/ SEZ-CDG Kenya Airways (via NBO) was also an option, but didn't fly every day and didn't have the best flight times (we would have had to overnight in NBO). |

Successfully booked and burned all my miles for:cool::
Business Class IAD - CDG Air France/Air Seychelles AF0952/ CDG-SEZ Air France AF0963 / MRU-CDG CDG - IAD This was a total of 120k per ticket. The tickets had to be issued as paper tickets. Total cost was 295 per ticket in taxes and fees:td::mad:. Requested that the 25 Direct ticketing be waived since I couldn't book online, but no success there. Overall I feel I got a good value for my $ and points as the tickets are going for around 12k and the points are becoming increasingly devalued. |
flyfarfar, when is your trip. We are going in August. (into TNR, out via MRU). We booked in Sept 2007 and August 2007 and only paid ~$125 per ticket (~$45 for the one-way outbound and $80 for the one-way return).
Fees via CDG have skyrocketed since then. We are also on paper tickets, which is very annoying given a bunch of changes we've since made to improve the connections. |
We booked tickets to the Seychelles using CO miles last year and flew from DXB to SEZ on Emirates. On the return trip, we were on Emirates through to CDG via DXB.
Good luck. A trip to the Seychelles is well worth the price, no matter how many miles you use -- truly heaven on earth!! |

In September 2007 I paid $148 in taxes for an award to SEZ via CDG and NBO. $295 per ticket seems like a lot even after subtracting $50 for the direct ticketing charge and partner award fee. |

Geez, sounds like I got ripped off on the fees compared to what others have paid. My only thought is that I have 3 AF segments and 1 AF code share (IAD>CDG, CDG>SEZ, MRU>CDG, CDG>IAD). So subtracting the 50 in Direct Ticketing and partner, its around 245 a ticket. Where did the extra hundred and 120 come from? Any guesses? |

Mileage Required NBO-Seychelles?
Hello, All - I'm a 1K on United and never fly on Delta except for the occasional involuntary reroute. As such, I'm a skymiles dummy but have been clocking up some skymiles through various promotions, namely the Avis 4-day rental/5,000 mile deal. Since UA only offers 1,250 miles per 4 day rental, I figured I'd credit to Delta and get something out of it sooner or later.
Now I'm planning on redeeming with United to go from IAD-Capetown-Nairobi-IAD in the summer of 2009. While in Nairobi, we'd like to go to the Seychelles. I see that Kenya Airways flies NBO-Seychelles on certain dates and am interested in using SkyMiles to redeem for that flight. I've looked all over on the SkyMiles page and on this board and can't figure out how many miles it would be to get from NBO-Seychelles, roundtrip. Does anyone have any experience with this - how easy it is to redeem, how many miles, etc? Thanks a lot! |
My Fee breakdown is as follows from my paper ticket. (in per ticket dollars)
Tax: XT 232.27 Tax: YC 5.5 Tax: XY 7.0 USD 245.27 Then I guess I was charged the direct ticket fee of 25 and the partner ticket fee of 25. |

Does anyone know if nwa.com/jp shows any flights to SEZ? or is it one of those destinations that never pulls up on NW's Japan site? Is AF still flying their own metal these days? Id prefer that over Air Mauritius, but I have a feeling AF operates it with their high capacity aircraft with the Alize degraded Business Class product. |

When do more seats for J/C class get released on these AF-coded Air Seychelles flights. There are a few in October, but none in November. Y availability is pretty good, but Im just wondering if they havent released any yet since this is a small partner. Does anyone know how that works with them?
|
Flew my MK segment on Monday night. The J product has been revamped vs. the 45" economy plus discussed earlier. It is now very similar to the AF and KL products; lie-flat at an angle with ~60" pitch. See at the Air Mauritius website.
The product is very new, and there were some bugs (my seat required some maintenance attention pre-departure and my wife's AVOD was only in black and white). But overall, it is a very competitive product and I would take it again without hesitation. Thumbs up for Air Mauritius on this one. |
I put an intra-Africa award on hold with DL miles at 60,000 miles in Y. I think Ive read elsewhere that NW offers cheaper intra-Africa awards, is that true?
And for those of you who have completed your trips, can you tell us about Kenya Airways and Air Seychelles service on any of these flights? I have CDG-SEZ in J class booked, but am not expecting much (although AF isnt that great either besides their comfortable, lie-flat seat) |

Two of us flew NBO-SEZ last year in C. It was OK, nothing spectecular (whereas KE's 777 J product is truly spectecular). We received menus on both segments to/from the Seychelles. On the way to SEZ, we got breakfast, and were offered lunch on the way back. Note that pitch is not great on these planes, nor is there IFE. Last year, there was a new lounge at SEZ, but KE Premium-class pax were NOT able to use it, not sure if that changed since.

For KQ longhaul, 777 seats are very good, much better than KL IMO, but the IFE is a bit of a letdown. Soft product is OK but nothing to write home about. No experience with their 767 but understand that it's an older seat. For NBO-SEZ, seating is similar to domestic first on US carriers. There's no lounge access at SEZ for KQ J pax. If you're flying HM from SEZ, their new lounge seemed quite nice looking (I only got to peek inside). |

Do you mean KQ (Kenya Air) or AF (Air France) since I didn't realize Korean (KE) has flights to SEZ.

Shocking that DL intra-Africa is 60k and NW is only 25k!!! I wish I had more points in my NW WP account!

I had paper tickets issued for me too which is a huge pain if you change something before travel because you have to go to the airport for them. I thought that paper tickets were a thing of the past?! I also cannot make any DL seat assignments online for some reason. It keeps kicking out my choices. I did go on to AF's web site to make seat assignments for the AF (even HM flight) flights though. Weird DL doesnt recognize my requests for seats, but AF does!

I just received a call that my paper tickets were canceled because DL no longer cooperates with HM because they require paper tickets. They rebooked me luckily (after my prompting) on KQ, but it's a pain. And, they noted that the web site still allows you to book the HM codeshare, but that since May, DL no longer cooperates with them until they offer e-ticketing and you run the risk of being denied boarding by HM. Theyre working on this issue on delta.com, but unfortunately, I got hit with tons of extra nonrefundable hotels now that the dates/flights have changed due to using KQ instead of HM four days before my trip
On a positive note, KQ award availability is now on nwa.com along with some other carriers which didn't show before ^ |
