SkyTeam to Seychelles?

Is it possible to get to the Seychelles via SkyTeam?

Yes, I have searched.

Looking at Orbitz I can see that AF has a codeshare SEZ-CDG with Air Seychelles, so I can only assume that they have one going to the other way.

My questions - does anyone know for sure whether or not AF has a roundtrip codeshare with Air Seychelles; and is it possible to book these flights with SkyMiles?

Thank you much...

I believe that to redeem a SkyTeam award the flight needs to be operated by a SkyTeam carrier; not just a flight with a SkyTeam code attached to it. Therefore, the Air Seychelles is probably not eligible for a Delta redemption, but if you had Flying Blue miles it might be.

They do have R/T code-share

CDG-SEZ AF952 (operatded by HM7)
SEZ-CDG AF953 (operated by HM8)

Good luck with redemption!

I booked an award rtw last week and had no problem getting to the seychelles for Jan 2008. It is on AF metal via Paris

Excellent. That is what I was hoping to hear.

Would you share your flight numbers?

Update

Last week in an ATL CRC I asked an agent to pull up flights to SEZ. An AF flight was showing up, but it said it was operated by Air Seychelles. The agent said it was probably a code share, thus not open for award flights, but also said it looked somewhat different from regular codeshare so he recommended I contact the intl partner award desk.

So, last night i called the partner desk. It is true that AF does not operate any metal to SEZ. They "co-operate" a flight with air seychelles, thus meaning we CAN book award travel. A J award is 140k unless you take Continental TATL and then its 160k.

I'll be trying to book two of these in the next few weeks, I'll let you know how it goes.....

Booking CDG-MRU (Mauritius) as part of my RTW award, both AF metal and AF codeshares on Air Mauritius were available for award booking. At first we booked to codeshare until we realized that we wouldn't really be in J, but rather Premium Economy. We quickly changed to an AF metal flight.

I'm heading to SEZ in June/July.
Using NW miles, I booked my flights on NW, PrivatAir (KL, IAH-AMS), then KQ (Kenya Airways) from AMS to NBO and then to SEZ.

Unfortunately, this won't help DL, CO members since KQ isn't a partner with those airlines.

Kenya air is now part of SkyTeam, so you can book to/from Seychelles on Kenya Air (through NBO) with any SkyTeam partner (they don't fly to/from NBO every day)

And yes, you can book the Air France code share with Air Seychelles

Can you explain this? I'm booked on a J award MRU-CDG on AF 981, operated by Air Mauritius. No indication on our booking that we are in Premium Economy. Where do you get such info?

I see now what you refer to. From their website. I remember now decding we could live with 45" since the schedule worked well.

I was looking into booking NBO-MRU on an Air Mauritius flight codeshared with Kenya Airways and they said it could not be booked with Skymiles..how exactly is that different from the Air France/Air Seychelles flight?

KQ/HM flights are true codeshares, where KQ just sells seats on HM (under a KQ flight number) as they come up. So award tickets are not done.

The arrangement AF has with HM is revenue sharing where AF actually pays a fixed amount to HM for each flight and gets a number of seats in return to sell. Those seats are eligible for award travel.

As an aside, up until last year I went to both Seychelles and Mauritius yearly for business (tourism) and am still quite familiar with a lot. PM me if you have questions about most anything and I should be able to help (esp with the resorts and tourism aspects).

Sez

Successfully booked using skymiles

Air France/Air Seychelles AF0952/ CDG-SEZ
Air France/Air Seychelles AF0953/ SEZ-CDG

Kenya Airways (via NBO) was also an option, but didn't fly every day and didn't have the best flight times (we would have had to overnight in NBO).
