Getting miles when someone else is traveling?

Hi,

It's surely a simple question...can I get miles on a Skyteam Frequent Flyer account (be it FB or SU Bonus) if someone else is actually traveling?

Assuming the card number is provided at the time of booking and the person is traveling alone, can they put the miles in my account or do I have to be on the plane for that?

No, unless you happen to have absolutely identical names (and even then it's illegal and there's always chance you get caught)

Thanks for the info...isn't much of a waste anyway, just a Moscow-Paris roundtrip.

This has happened to me :
1) When I booked an award ticket for my then other half. I earned miles. This was a complete surprise and shock!

2) When a friend (my flatmate) accidentally entered my FFP no instead of his. I earned the miles. A pleasant surprise. No relation. No similarity in name. Just shared street address.

I used to buy tickets on credit card for my mother to fly to visit me. They issued the tickets to a single initial and a last name...................

happens not too infrequent, especially on partner airline flights.
