Normally you can call them and ask what upgrade you might get. See if you can take picture of the lot too

Booked for a Rav4, but upon check in, the lady at the counter told me that they don't have it at that moment, and the only option she can give me is a Hyundai Accent!! Absolutely ridiculous and what a lie, there were lots of car in stock when I got to the roof. I saw a Rav4 was returning just in time. I talked to the staff on the roof, which were extremely nice, and they help me to change the car without any question. ^

There are 2 types of Plat (not sure which one you are), but you probably could get an XCAR or PFAR.

C-class is an LCAR btw. E-class would be the XCAR.

Why do you mean by 2 type of plat?

My guess is Platinum status due to being a frequent renter (10+ a year) compared to Platinum status granted to MasterCard World Elite cardholders.

Yes comp plat via airline status or credit card (I recall that this plat does not give you upgrades) vs frequent renter (rent 10+ times)

My comp MasterCard Platinum status entitles me to an upgrade to the next higher class based on availability.

It's YMMV based on what I've seen, although that seems to be when people ask for the 2-class upgrade rather than 1-class.

I got my plat via a status match. Not sure which one it was that got it for me. I didnt mention to them I have a World Elite Mastercard. I did show them my SPG plat status, my National EE status, and my Airline status.

I've been upgraded from a PCAR to a 528i (XCAR) without asking at ATL.

This time at LAX they offered me an upgrade to an XTS, which I declined. I don't really consider an impala to be better than a new C-Class. They tried to get me to take a G550 for $200 per day extra.

The pickup was a mess. Waited 30 minutes for the shuttle, 30 minutes on the shuttle, and another 1hr to get the car when we were actually at the renaissance. This basically means that I can't go to sixt at LAX unless I am on a leisure trip.

Why so long wait time?

The location and shuttle frequency is too small for the volume of customers that LAX can deliver.

Once at the hotel there was a long lineup (10 or more) of customers and 3 agents working the desk. Each customer was taking forever (10 mins ) once they reached an agent for various reasons: no cars in reserved class, insurance issues, credit card issues, who knows what else.

I arrived at LAX with no luggage at 11:40 and was driving by 14:00.

tdrag97 May 21, 2015 12:55 pm

I see. So if we have completed our profile online. Can't we go directly to the garage to pick up our car? Without going thru the agent? That's possible right?

Nitehawk May 22, 2015 12:07 am

Perhaps I don't understand the process. Can we go straight to the garage if we have completed our profile? That would have definitely saved me a lot of time!

I just booked an S-Class (XDAR) at LAX for two weeks. (I'm Sixt Platinum).
The website says: S-Class, BMW 7 or Audi A8.
I'd be interested in hearing from others what they got when renting XDAR. (I absolutely want to avoid a US car).
Any chance of getting the S-Class guaranteed if I call a few days before arriving?

Thanks
