Top end dining recommendations in Singapore
Hi,
I know there's a plethora of great hawker centres and small restaurants in Singapore that offer a great meal at low low cost. However, I will be out there for a couple of special evenings with my wife and would like some suggestions as to where we should go. I'd probably err away from the few top end places that require a jacket and tie, but otherwise i'm open to all ideas. Thanks in advance |
Top End Dining???
How about dining right at the TOP??? Si Chuan Dou Hua @ Top of the UOB Plaza... U can't get any higher than this "top"... :p |
|
I understand the food at Sky Dining is less than impressive, but i'm a big fan of Si Chuan so that might be an idea (except the website seems to be down).
Thanks |

Il Lido on Sentosa island.
Iggy's at Regent Hotel. I haven't tried either but have heard great reviews. Iggy's has been voted as one of the top restaraunts in the region, and Il Lido is run by some of the folks that used to manage Garibaldi. Garibaldi on Purvis street used to be a favourite of mine, though I haven't been since the manager left for Il Lido and I'm not sure of it's status now. The new chef for the Garibaldi group, Gunther something, also has an eponymous restaurant - I'm not sure which is considered higher end. Osso Bucco near Duxton is also a very good Italian restaurant. I think better than Garibaldo, but both are excellent. |
could try prive - on it's own private island with decent steaks. www.prive.com.sg

Prive is really nice -- and the bar side gets an extra boost from the fact that it's owned by the boss of a local model agency. While technically a private island, it's very easy to reach as it's connected by a bridge to the mainland, and despite the name it's entirely open to the public.
And while I'm at it, detailed reviews for Il Lido, Halia, Chikuyotei, Le Tonkin: http://extra.wikitravel.org/tags/gourmetsnob I'd recommend Halia -- it's quite romantic, not stuffy, not outrageously expensive, and the food is consistently excellent. ^ |
Can anyone else comment on Prive? The website doesn't have photos or a menu. But it sounds like it might be worth a visit.

Here's a review of Prive from a rather popular local food blogger...
http://ieatishootipost.blogspot.com/...sy-island.html If you want to go to Prive, suggest you call them early for reservations. They are booked out over the weekends 2 weeks ahead. If anyone wants to take a look at the menu, do PM me with your email address. Sorry, it's in pdf format and I dunno how to post it here... :) |
