bummer to see no answer on this thread. I’m taking my first ever trip to SG for work next month and would like to treat myself to a couple of high end meals. Did you discover anything on your trip that you could share?

That turned into a tourist trap after the owner sold it, has (had) 45-120 min wait and the food is awful. Which tourists obviously don't know because they don't know how it supposed to taste. |

P.S. One generic recommendation - avoid going to places mentioned in guidebooks and/or are well-publicized over the Internet. |

Do you specifically need chicken rice? If so, ask local Singaporean contacts which hawker center they would recommend. In general, Zion Road and Old Airport Road are good.

any good or bad experiences with the michelin starred omakase options? I was considering doing a Friday night dinner at either Kimura or Shoukouwa... I love great quality Japanese food and my wife doesn't so this business trip is a great way to have a good omakase experience on a favorable exchange rate where I can expense 25% of it or so :)

Just completed my week stay in Singapore. Odette gave me a pamphlet of their recommended restaurants. Can confirm Boon Tong Kee on Balestier Road is good, as well as Mee Rebus.

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...60380afa9.jpeg Can definitely recommend both! Couple of notes: the laksa is very affordable price-wise but the portions are small so I still had plenty of room for more even after ordering the "large", also it has a healthy helping of cockles so beware anyone who doesn't like the fishy/salty taste. We had the BKT as a late night meal and it was absolutely divine; very hearty and fragrant and the shop was emptying at the time so the staff were very proactive in refilling the soup. Definitely get the fried dough (youtiao) if you aren't averse to oily foods, it's a match made in heaven. We also visited Hua Ting, which was probably the best dim sum experience I have ever had. Their take on the classic pork bun was amazing, but it was actually their pan-fried halibut that stole the show. The server tried to sell us on their peking duck, which is actually one of their specialties, but since we were only two people dining we declined as it would likely have been too much in addition to all the other dishes we wanted to try. |
Any recommendations for HK style dim sum restaurants? TIA.
