Best way to get to Hong Kong?
Im trying to plan out a trip to Singapore to visit my sister at the end of Nov.
I am also thinking of visiting Hong Kong afterwards.
Im looking for a AA flight (which would probably be Cathay) so I can get AA miles.
There are flights (LONG ones) from JFK to SIN (via NRT/HRD or HKG) and SIN to JFK.
But theres nothing good between Singapore and Hong Kong.
Any recommendations on cheap (but good) airlines?
On expedia, direct flight is over 1k and connecting flights are around 400.
Thanks

SIN-HKG flights are very competitive.
There are so many airlines doing this route, from budget to FS.
There are budget carriers (jetstar and Tiger) which even make the trip cheaper.

JFK-SIN (via HKG)
SIN-HKG
HKG-JFK
But the flights (I did this on AA.com) for SIN-HKG were horrible.
Like 1 to 2 days of travel for it.
When you say:
>SIN-HKG(stopover)-JFK
The stopover can only be a day, or else its a 1 way ticket.
I want to stay 3 days.
Thanks

It's too bad UA doesn't run the 747s on this route anymore... I bought a roundtrip HKG-SIN in August for only HK$1607 ai (G fare), perfect for a weekend trip to SIN. I'll miss the cheap runs for SG food and shopping at Orchard.
Best I'm seeing right now is HK$2533 (~US$325) ai on HX (I only tried Nov 29-Dec 1). I used to wait until last minute to book these flights but there's probably not much point since CO's 737 should fill up quick and CX/SQ fares will not fall lower than HX.

What has this thread to do with Singapore?
It should be in AA or better still the Other Asian, Australian and South Pacific Frequent Flyer Forum.

originally the plan was to do a roundtrip from SIN to HKG. Now we are thinking of doing it from HKG-SIN.
So the thread title is slightly off, apologies.
So far I have these options for a roundtrip from HKG-SIN
Jetstar - about $2,000 HKD
Tiger Airways - about $1800 HKD
Continental (from expedia) - $240 USD
Cathay and other flights on expedia were all MUCH more expensive.
Am I missing any other budget airlines?
Any other recommendations?
Thank you
