Just flew BKK-SIN-DPS v.v in C on a *A award. Tickets were acquired in mid March. I wanted to take the direct TG flights but they weren't available.

Not sure when the JFK-DPS mistake fare was available.

I haven't looked at the ANA tool, but looking for a bunch of random dates with my KF miles I am finding the same open availability that I've been used to seeing on the DPS route. We usually found DPS and SGN were easy scores for 2 business class tix for weekend get-aways (with US/UA or KF miles).

It may be different if you use KF miles. When you check ANA tool it is not available.

interesting, I'll try some of the same dates later on ANA tool when I have time and see if there is a disparity of if I just grabbed the dates where seats were actually available.

Do you mean the Intercontinental Hotel Group's Priority Club card?

Is this a "only if flying on SQ deal?"

I have two departures from SIN coming up (one on NW in C, and the other on MH in coach)

Same story.....I surfed around, and found plenty of KF Saver dates in C. On all three flights each way.

He is talking about Priority Pass. See here: http://www.prioritypass.com/

So it looks like SQ gives them out to their own KF members but not their *A partners. I wonder why...

Can you update us once you have had a chance to compare the dates.

I wonder why they are not allocating *A seat on this route and only on this route. Could it be some sort of technical fault which they are not aware of?

stephem Apr 29, 2009 6:27 pm

yes, something is up.

July 7 shows 2 of 3 flights available for saver business with KF miles, ANA tools show nothing for *A.

Sept 7 and 17 as well as Oct 14 show similar results, open for KF, nada for ANA tool.

So something has changed. I used to alternate between US/UA and KF miles (US was easy to get miles by churning their CC) for SIN-DPS weekend trips and this was one of the most wide open routes.

I also checked SIN-SGN, which my experience shows is always open in business class, and the KF and ANA availability still match up there.

Not sure if it impacts KF availability but I am PPS club, so that's one caveat.

Could the rumor of switching to SILK AIR be the reason?

I have been checking availability for the last few weeks and it seems that they open up Biz awards around 4-5 days before the flight. If you want to book a few weeks/months in advance then only Y comes up. :(

If you can book last minute then business is easily available.

I would be interested to know why SQ is blocking seats for *A members only? As SQ members can get seats for far out dates. Is this a good route for them?

SIN Singapore Changi SG [WSSS]

Actually I think that could be more like it. Not that SQ will go through with it in the end but some budget carriers like Air Asia just started flying to DPS from SIN. Every time this has happened on a route lately (KUL, Penang, rumor about CGK) SQ took out some big 772/773 aircraft and let MI fly a few of the daily rotations.

I would think that is a bad idea for DPS given that loads were always high but who knows what SQ Management is cooking up in regards to plane refits to new regional C etc. Maybe a temporary blip. I manged to get 2 Y seats in mid-Sep using KF miles without a hitch but that's not representative. Actually this is the reason I keep KF miles (from my CC) as redemptions to DPS are cheap and easier to come by with KF miles. Beats the heck out of paying 500-600SGD for a Y fare.
