Mine is not even remotely close to the conversion factor of 1 sector == 1.000 PP$? Anyeone care to guess why?

Wow, there is some bizarre valuation going on here. For an ex-asia RT ticket I had, a HKG-SFO segment I had is valued at SGD1968 while the SFO-HKG segment from the same roundtrip ticket is valued at SGD5400.

I've also noticed some strange inconsistencies...

Anyone had any CRTW segments valued?

Maybe we should have a sticky thread tracking: Segment, PPS Value, Place of issue, Type of ticket...

Yes. SIN-BKK in J was valued at 291 on a CRTWSTAR3. F on a FCPSTAR1 ticket was valued at 740.

Here's mine for as far back I can see my statement - 21.25 PPS sectors reflecting only PPS Value S$ 6,948 :(

Comparing PPS Value earned to what you actually paid might be useful:

Ticket: BOM-SIN-NRT-SIN-BOM
Place of issue: singaporeair.com
Base fare: S$3000
Total PPS Value earned: 3766

Description, PPS Value S$, PPS Value per mile
SQ 421 J BOM-SIN 681 S$0.28/mile
SQ 998 J SIN-NRT 853 S$0.26/mile
SQ 11 J NRT-SIN 1,550 S$0.47/mile
SQ 422 J SIN-BOM 682 S$0.28/mile

Ticket: SQ/VS CRTW, DEL-xSIN-ICN-SIN-xHKG-SFO//JFK-FRA-xSIN-CGK-xSIN-DEL
Place of issue: SQ BOM
Base fare: S$6175
Total PPS Value earned: 3182 so far, TBD after remaining legs in Apr/May

Description, PPS Value S$, PPS Value per mile
SQ 407 J DEL-SIN 524 S$0.20/mile
SQ 882 J SIN-ICN 567 S$0.19/mile
SQ 883 J ICN-SIN 567 S$0.19/mile
SQ 866 J SIN-HKG 368 S$0.24/mile
SQ 2 J HKG-SFO 1,156 S$0.17/mile

Inconsistencies on the SIN-NRT and NRT-SIN segments from the same ticket as well.

ylesmana Mar 31, 2007 12:42 pm

Me too, I paid C CGK-LHR-CGK and the break downs as follows

CGK-SIN C/J S$381
SIN-LHR C/J S$2738

The RTTix will be use in a month time. How do they break CGK-SIN and SIN-LHR. I paid 5570USD and seems there is something wrong going on with PPSV.

I haven't had time for a proper check, but some bizarre PPS values for me too. The same sector flown on various (all SQ) tickets in the same class of travel has PPS Value varying by more than 100%.

From PPS values of part of a RTW, appears to be pro-rated based on distance (at least SQ flight with double the distance of another SQ flight on same RTW is getting double the PPS Value). I haven't checked just how much of the total fare has been assigned to the SQ sectors. I note SIN-AKL on RTW credited more PPS Value than SIN-AKL on all my SQ only tickets (in the same class of travel)?

Overall seems to be allocating a very low value. YTD (3 months) PPS sectors 45, PPS value S$20k.

Looks like I need to dig out my tickets/receipts to compare PPS Value with fare.

LionCity Mar 31, 2007 6:06 pm

All my tickets are purchased in Singapore and travel out from Singapore. The PPS Value seems to match closely to what I guessed I spent on air tickets in the past year. Probably, the system can track Sin purchased tickets better.

Noted from SQ web site that surcharges are not included in PPS Value.

The new system may have still some bugs. For example after logging out, I noticed the time logged onto the website is the same as the current clock time; if clock time 7.00 am, the total logged in time is 7 hours.

I currently have 22.5 sectors and need 2.5 more for requalification under the old scheme.
These 22.5 sectors have been been allocated a PPS value of S$15791, meaning under the new system, I will need another S$9209 to requalify for PPS.

I earned these 22.5 sectors as follows:

(J class)
Sin-Syd (2.5 sectors); S$2108.40
Syd-Sin (2.5 sectors); S$2040
Sin-Syd (2.5 sectors); S$2040
Syd-Sin (2.5 sectors) ]
Sin-Fra (5 sectors) ]; S$4369.20
Fra-Sin (5 sectors) ]
Sin-Syd (2.5 sectors) ]; S$4369.20

The values in red are what my corporate TA stated was my Base Fare (minus taxes etc) paid to SQ, converted from AUD$ to S$ at an exchange rate of 1:1.2 by me.

Total: S$14926.80 -> so this is very similar to the S$15791 PPS value that SQ have calculated....so I guess it is easy for them to calculate simple return fares cf to complicated around the world fares:p

The take home message for me is that I will have to do an extra 1.75 Syd-Sin return trips in J class to requalify for PPS under the new scheme...which is ridiculous, so it will be BYE-BYE to PPS for me:td:

I'm flying Syd-Kul later this month via Sin with SQ in J class (and Y from Sin-Kul:eek: ), and this cost AUD$4400 total....I can fly DIRECT Syd-Kul on MH for AUD$3100 in J class, and get FREE return limousine transfers between my home and Sydney airport included (a saving of more than AUD$100 in taxi fares)!! So why should I direct all my travel to SQ?? :( I will now only travel with SQ if it is convenient, their airfare is competitive, and if the opposition on that route has very poor IFE / service.

I think SQ management have grossly underestimated the impact that the changes to their PPS program will have on my (and presumably others') future travel on them, which hopefully will bite them where it hurts the most:$$$$!!

Mine already shows a figure well in excess of the minimum required for renewal.

Kiwi Flyer Apr 1, 2007 12:46 am

infoworks - I'm not surprised.

I think it is time somebody here on FT obtain a copy of the "IATA Airline Revenue Accounting Manual" (forgot the name of the exact publication).

However this publication is likely going to be difficult to obtan... But it will probably give everybody an idea hosw the PPS Value might be derived.

Also, the move by SQ to "disclose" how much revenue it made (segment by segment) to its pax can be potentially dangerous to them. For example, in some examples shown, PPS Values can even be different for for simple roundtrip tickets depending on the difference in direction of the flown sector.

I just have a feeling that the tax authorities of certain countries where SQ serves would now start scrutinizing the way SQ allocates/sources revenue to various countries perhaps to minimize its corporate income taxes in certain countries etc.
