Ultimo J Seats
Can someone confirm by looking at these photos that these are indeed the Ultimo J seats before the Spacebeds were installed?

Yup. Sure looks like them. Here are a couple more pictures:

See this post by StarG from last year (I believe the info is still current):

There are currently four types of Raffles Class seats in operation: 1) SpaceBed: the famous(ly positive & negative) lie-flat bed. Seat pitch is IIRC 58 inches on B744s and B772ERs. 2) Ultimo: exist only on one single aircraft: B747-400 with registration 9V-SMT. Seat pitch is 52 inches. 3) Regional J (New): with dark blue cloth surface. With AVOD. Seat pitch is 50". (your second picture link) 4) Regional J (Older): with light blue cloth surface. With no AVOD. Seat pitch is 50". (your first picture link) The last two (3 & 4) exists on ALL Boeing 777 flights to Australia. So if your flight is scheduled as '777', you will get either the new Regional J or old Regional J. Some FTers have mistakenly dubbed the new Regional J seat as Ultimo, when it is actually not. Totally different seat design. For a redeye, of course I would take SpaceBed anytime. But these regional J seats are quite comfortable to say the least. Hope this clears things up. :) |

Huh - I asked a FA on a 772 flight recently that called the Regional J seat "Ultimo". Obviously not the most accurate source but we can conclude that the different models & names are not crystal clear to most.
