Hello!
I have been following the different threads about mileage runs originating in Sri Lanka(CMB). One of the issues that I saw was that one had to collect the ticket in CMB, and a number of people were looking for a reputed travel agent who will courier the tickets. I spoke to the travel agent that I have bought a number of tickets from (mainly LAX-CMB-LAX) in the last few years which she has couriered to me in Los Angeles. Have also purchased a few CMB-LAX-CMB for family members. I have no connection/affiliation to this travel agency (well known in Sri Lanka) other than being a satisfied customer. If anyone is interested, please email (available in the profile) me for name and contact info. The reason that I didn't post the info on the web page is that I felt that it would be inappropriate, and did email the moderator to get his opinion as well. Regards, Emil |
Hello!
Please disregard the above post about a travel agent in CMB. I just heard that due to a number of fraud cases with couriered tickets the company has instructed the travel agents to accept credit card payments and courier tickets only to customers who are personally known. My apologies to the folks who contacted me. Regards, Emil |
I just completed my first leg of the J class ticket CMB-SIN-LAX. I bought the ticket in May through SQ website and emailed SQ customer service to mail me the paper tickets. The SQ ticketing supervisor in London (Where I was based) contacted me within 24 hours and I received my 4 paper tickets bought for two separate journeys by mail within 48 hours.
I originated my Last trip from Madras buying a Srilanka return Ticket to Colombo for $ 200 in J class. My luggage (4 pieces) was booked direct to LAX from MAA. We landed in CMB and made our way to the common transit desk clearly marked. We were handed over the boarding passes and went to the lounge. Journey was uneventful. The fare is still available on SQ website and one of the best values available in J class today. Hurry before it is pulled out. |
On a somewhat related topic...
I'm in Jakarta, and want to go to CMB for xmas. Fares here are high, does anyone know of an online agent in SIN? (like Tiglion in HK) I know of Zuji, are there any others? Brgds Peasant |
I have used and been happy with Misa Travel in Singapore. Just do a google search and find it that way. I think the web site address is: www.airfares.com.sg but I'm not sure.
Have fun in CMB! |
Incidentally, how many PPS sectors does this earn? I'm assuming that the miles can be credited to another *A carrier...

Originally posted by Latitudes: I am doing a similar trip later this month. My flight is SIN-CMB-SIN with a 1:25 stopover in CMB. SQ told me that I can collect my CMB-SIN boarding pass in SIN before I travel to CMB, effectively checking me in for the return flight before I arrive in CMB. I wanted to make doubly sure the information was correct so I phoned SQ back on another day and spoke with a different agent. Both agents concur. I can't see what the problem is... Although this did not turn out to be a problem, do note that SQ 402 arrives at 0020, and SQ 401 departs at 0135. If the inbound flight is delayed for any reason, there is the possibility that check-in may already be closed for the return flight. The SQ ground operation at CMB is not the best organised. I am planning to fly on the inaugural SQ20 SIN-LAX non-stop in Raffles Class.
Does anyone know if the CMB-LAX fare for SQ20/SQ19 is the same (as low) as SQ30/SQ29 or SQ12/SQ11? I tried doing a fare search on SQ website. When I entered CMB-LAX it won't show SQ20/SQ19 as a bookable flight alternative. When I split the search to CMB-SIN-LAX-SIN-CMB the fare becomes very high. Would appreciate any help from CMB turnaround experts http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif StarG |
could be the inaugural flight is fully booked with VIPs and hacks??
i suspect that SQ is trying to charge a premium for the A345 non-stop. but then i'm really not sure that having 63 possible fellow J pax justifies any premium... the best option is to check the CMB fares with PPS at paragon, if you happen to be in town. |
