NRT - AA Relocation to Terminal 2
Not sure if this has been discussed already, but I just returned from a NRT-LAX flight, and it looks like FINALLY AA and JL will be located in the SAME terminal by mid 2006.
The airport is doing a two stage airline reshuffle which will result in much easier AA/JL connections, which will (if I remember correctly) both end up in Terminal 2! @:-) @:-) @:-)

AA is probably doing this becuase NAA(Narita Airport Authority) wants to make most of T1 a *A terminal with NH/UA/AC/SQ/TG/LH/OZ in T1.

New AC?
Hopefully this will mean a snazzy new Admirals Club. However, it will be a shame that PLT/EXPs won't be able to (feasibly) use the CX or BA clubs anymore.
Then again, maybe all of oneworld will consolidate at T2 and the problem will be solved.

According to NAA's plan, CX will move to T2 with AA, but BA will remain at T1 north wing.

The downside is that I know a lot of people that connect to the CX flight to TPE. This is typically a tight connection in the same terminal. Now it will be impossible.
Are BA and CX moving as well?

Having made the JL-AA sprint on more than one occasion, I think this is fabulous news.
(If you aren't familiar with what this involves, see season four of The Amazing Race... they nailed the whole thing all the way down to the little women in their high heels....)

This will alleviate a lot of anxiety as I take JL and AA flight connections at least 3 times a year and am always concerned about making the connection... GREAT news..

A plus - shorter taxi on the inbound
A minus - Longer outbound taxi, a terminal that is typically 20 Degrees F too hot. Year Round.

If this is true, there will obviously be a new lounge of some sort (even if it involves using JL's lounges). I'd love to see a joint AA/CX lounge with a proper F section, but I'm sure I'll be disappointed.

This change will definitely affect my tradeoffs in choosing flights from the U.S. to Australia. Does anyone have a more precise schedule estimate than "mid 2006?" Specifically, in time for Oz Fest 3 at the end of May?

Which terminal is the newer one? I remember spending some time at a very nice (albeit small) lounge/bar overlooking the tarmac one time, but couldn't find it ever again.

*Drat!!!*
*sigh* i would not mind AA and CX moving into T2 if they would renovate T2 along the way. call me spoiled, but the Green Car of Narita Express into T1 lets passengers off right in front of the escalators, while this is not the case with T2.
i was thinking that with JAL being the national airline of Japan, surely (don't call me shirley) they would do something about the appearance of T1.
