All Starwood Sites Down For Over 2 Days Now!!!

All Starwood hotel these sites are down, not to mention that when I call (because there is a genuine problem) I was asked by a very helpful agent to fax a copy of the problem to her supervisor DELORES. She never called or wrote back. Then yesterday I called again. Another helpful CSR listened to the problem and then checked with Delores. She comes back and tells me that Delores has recd. the fax and she does not know what to do with it and she is too busy write now. Delores was obviously lying to this other CSR as the first CRS put me on hold, spoke with Delores, and then asked me to send the fax to her attention. I was told Delores will respond in a few hours through email or phone. No response yet.

I am planning to write to Ms. Robin Korman, Vice President of Loyalty Mktg. about Delores. I have never had such bad service from Starwood. Our friend William Sanders is the best in the Biz. I hate when a few employees like Delores try to give the company a bad name because of their bad attitude and break away from the "consistency" of superior service SPG offers. It is best to let these employees go to preserve the level of service that a company offers!

I don't know which Starwood sites you've been trying to use the past two days, but I've been on several of them over the course of yesterday and today and they've all worked fine for me. Among them:

http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/

http://www.starwoodhotels.com/

http://www.starwoodhotels.com/whotels/index.html

I was quickly able to get on and:

check my account
check reservations
search for rooms
reserve a room.

Didn't see any kind of glitches...

Huh, well, currently, for me: http://www.spg.com/ is redirecting to http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest, which is redirecting to http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest ... at which point all three of the web browsers I have tried give up.

What a relief to see that I am not the only one having this problem. When I use IE the page simply does not load; using Mozilla, I get the Alert message "Redirect limit exceeded for this URL. Page could not be loaded. May be caused by blocked cookies." Everything was fine until Sunday when www.spg.com would not load.....

I cleaned out my cache, checked the settings on the firewall, anti-virus, etc etc and still no luck. Starwood Internet help told me nothing wrong with their websites.

Any idea's as to what is wrong and what we can do about it?

I have been having problem using Windows 2003 server as OS accessing spg.com. Site won't let me log in, and formats are off. If I use my other Win2000 PC, I'm fine. However, certain pages still won't load. Eg. I was ready to reserve the 2-nite-3rd-one-free offer, at Vegas Westin. The Rate Details won't load.

There is obviously some IE settings required for spg.com. Though I don't know which one.

I've not had a single problem getting on the site and I've logged on quite a lot the last 3 days (and just now). WindowsXP Home Edition, IE6.

I don't doubt you're having difficulties though. That web site has more bugs in it than the U.S. Embassy in Moscow!

Arrow Maybe this is the problem...

It looks like Starwood re-hosted their website onto a different server, but didn't allow enough time for the DNS changes to propagate before setting up their HTTP redirects.

If you are currently having trouble getting to http://www.spg.com/ then you might have some more success with http://129.33.31.73/preferredguest

For those who are after the technical detail:

Same her. spg.com has been working when I log on, as with PremEx, XP and IE6. But as we all know, this "award winning website" is absolutely infested with bugs. You'd think that so many months after launching their new website that they'd have ironed out all the bugs....

I apologize for the inconvenience some of you are having. This one is an ISP-specific problem that has to do with how often the DNS domain name to IP cache is refreshed.

If you are having a problem, you might want to contact your ISP and asked them to re-set or clear the DNS cache from their end of things. Clearing the browser cache on your computer won't fix the problem some of you are experiencing.

Sincerely,

I had the strange bug?
When I checked My reservation, it said there were none and showed different member number (my number is 2XXXXXX and screen said 1XXXXXX, all X are the same except first number).
Since the number was wrong, they could not find my reservation.
All other functions worked fine with right member number such as check my account.
That was yesterday, now it looked fine.
