I am flying tonight for HKG-DOH and was given a lounge invitation for the Plaza Premium First, either at Gate 4 or Gate 60. Usually I will ignore the invitation and go to the Wing or the Pier directly as I am QR platinum and the first lounge of CX is always the best in this airport. Today I was early for 4 hours so I decided to go to the Plaza premium First.

Entering the lounge, I was immiediately invited to the newly opened Infinity room, which is specially room with a la carte, wine and whisky menus. The layout is very similiar to the CX First lounge at LHR and I suspect that they hire the same designer.

THe food was great. I like the rice noodles and also the beef. They also recommend lamb but it was a bit too much for me. I consider the food to be better than the Pier/Wing, probably because I have been to the CX lounges for so many times and get tired of the food their.

The Infinity room is now only open for QR or paid cusmers (1100 HKD for 3 hours). During my stay here, I was alone for 1 hour and then accompanied by another person.

My verdict is that I will come here again in the July but keep the options to visit Wing near by. So have your try here and let me know your thoughts.

Are you flying F? Or Platinum on J or Y?

I believe some other airlines F are using infinity room as well, and some credit card holders can pay to upgrade their lounge experience.

I flew in J while OWE a couple of times in past 8 months and got access to the PP First lounge near gate 4.
I don't remember it being called infinity but a la carte food and whiskey were excellent. Even caviar and elaborate dishes.
Non-OWE only get access to Business section.

Yes this isn't new - I've had the infinity room before when in QR F within the last two years. I found the food selection to be a good change from the Wing/Pier F (agreed it can get a bit boring when you're going through a few times a month), but I thought the drinks selection was inferior to CX. The other perk is you get a (shared) buggy from the lounge to your plane.
